447,000 last weekend going. Just got off the Dalton Highway. Was going to drive up to the Arctic Circle but didn't grab my extra gas cans and didn't want to pay $5.76 gal gas /$130 to fuel up. Made it to the Yukon River. The sun never did go down all the way.
Took the pic at midnight.

landtank, don't you have 50,000 miles to go before your goal?

also, it looks like you drove up to Alaska as you had planned

Tried to sell it in Fairbanks AK for 3 days, several lookers. If it had the cold winter package block trans and battery heater it would of sold.
I will try and keep till it doesn't pass emissions or something major goes wrong.

Made it all the way up to AK and part way up the Dalton and did some four wheeling with just front wheel drive. I put the rear driveshaft back on and drove it back to Colorado. Had no issues. The CE light never came on with all the city driving I did in Fairbanks. Normally I get code 25 26 with city driving. Not sure if it was from changing from RotellaT 5w40 syn oil to Delo 400 dino oil or if it was that AK doesn't have ethanol in their gas (so I was told up there)?

wait, why was the rear drive shaft off?

do you have an approximate map of your travels?

I ran with the rear drive shaft off till just before I returned home.

Entered Canada at Sweet Grass, MT. In Canada I took Hwys 4, 3, 2, 216 43 to the Alaska Hwy in Canada and US to Fairbanks.
Drove up to the Yukon Bridge on the Dalton Hwy/Haul Road. Also made a round trip in AK hwys 3, 8, 4, 2. That was on the Denali hwy.
I didn't find many places to go wheeling but didn't look very hard either as I didn't have my jack and hand winch or rear drive shaft installed.

I guy wanted me to take him moose hunting and I passed as I had to work. The place he when had guys in Toyota trucks running down the river and one of them hydro-locked several times and had to remove plugs to keep going, glad I passed but would love to of given it a try.

Pic is where I turned 450,000, mi

I had a 1hz diesel one with 612000kms on it. I don't have a pic of the speedo as I sold it 3 years ago.
One of the cleanest 40 Th anniversary models I have seen.

460,000 mi. This might be the big last milestone for the 80 with me depending on what I buy when I get back from AK . Been sniffing out a new daily driver FRS, 944 or other. If I get a car then I will probably keep the 80 as a snow vehicle.

The 80 is not going to Alaska again this year. Going to fly up this time and buy something up there to put around with. Anyone with a cheap reliable (and I mean cheap) let me know as I will be in Fairbanks

What, if any, internal work has the engine received on its journey to 460k?

Mine is barely broken in at this point.

Too lazy to snap some pics....

Got it about 1.5 years ago from a cruiser shop owner with ~270k miles and improperly diagnosed with a BHG (did all tests short of a leak down, passing game with flying colors).

Last 10k miles it has had to have the original alternator and starter with some wiring replaced/upgraded. Has developed a pesky PS leak. Has a few other minor leaks. Has the typical trans lights/switch and related issues. Otherwise it's great and used almost daily.

1993 3x locked. Around 307k miles now.

No motor repairs sense I bought it at 208,000. Did a ton of PM when I got it like new wheel bearings, seals, tuneups etc.

I think the 80 has paid for its self and has used up all its value. A junk dealer only offered me $300 for it.

How about some exterior and overall shots? What does a 460,000 mile 80-series look like? =)

$300, GFY! He has no idea! I'd give a lot more just so I could roll on to 500,000 !

Currently at 282,000 km (176,000 miles) on my HDJ80. Got the car five years ago with 250,000 km (156,000 miles). It's my daily driver, I use it more than my GT86 and E46 :) So far I've had to repair/replace the following items:

-coolant hoses, thermostat and heater valve (had some leaking heater hoses and heater valve nipple was breaking apart)
-U-joints (they wore out, became noisy)
-wheel bearings (some were seized)
-valve cover gasket (old one was slightly leaking)
-injection pump hoses (hose from hard line to fuel filter was leaking)
-power steering cooler/hose and return hose (cooler hose was leaking)
-LSPV (leaking)
-steering shaft seal (torn)
-knuckle studs (two on the passenger side sheared off)
-AC compressor, front and rear evaporators, expansion valves, dryer and o-rings (magnet valve that splits front and rear AC failed, evaporator leaking)
-rear window motor was stuck, took it apart and cleaned it

The list doesn't include the regular maintenance items (timing belt and tensioner, fluid changes, drive belts, filters)

Page up to my Toad River pic's on this thread to see some pic's.
I don't wash it anymore so its still covered with road dirt from Canada from last fall.
Rust is taking over. Rockers, rear doors, fenders/seat belt mounts. Used several license plates to fill the rust holes.
