Got the blower motor re assembled this morning before heading to moms for the afternoon.

Mechanism attached. I used Sylglyde on all of the moving parts. Toyota calls for "body grease" but that's hard to find here. Sylglyde works just fine and CDan loves this stuff.

Here's the top half assembled:

Bottom plate went on with a bit of felt for cushion and sound dampening:

I painted the plate for protection:

Quick request:

Can someone check to see if the electrical harness to the front horns is a separate harness or integrated into the main harness on the DS?

Wondering if I can get that piece separately since mine seems to be missing for some odd reason.

TIA.

TMI man! ;)

Looking great Beno:cheers: I hope to see this in person someday.
Are you keeping a spreadsheet of all this stuff? When this beaut is running, I'd like to see retail comparison of 1985 showroom delivery of all OEM parts as assembled in Japan vs. contemporary mostly OEM parts as assembled by Beno.

I just installed some new (used) horns... so I kinda remember. The wires that plug into the FJ60 horns are wrapped up into the headlight wiring harness on DS.

If you need the wiring for the horns I have it.

Wow. Between the exquisite level of rebuild detail and the choice selection of Japanese liquors, you, Sir, are my Hero and I am going to write a letter to the US Treasury to have your image replace Sacajawea on the dollar coin.

Did all that foam come in the 'Toyota Noise Suppression' kit ?

Yes all of the foam came in that kit. Well more than enough to do the entire HVAC system.

Got some cool horns installed. FJ60/62 horns are disco but amazingly horns for mid-1980's FJ70/75 were available. So I got the high and low pitched horns.

Connectors are different so I will have to make new ones but they will work perfectly.

Surprisingly, I had vey few leaves and pine needles. The blades had a nice layer of filth. Motor dust was everywhere. I need to do the brush swap for sure.

Good work Cameron. These trucks need this type of PM and cleaning after 30 years. Amazing how rebuildable everything is. Far cry from Toyota today.

Is it as simple as unscrew everything, clean and rebuild?

86510-12420
86520-12610

Those ARE cool.
Those show that they draw 3 amps ea. at 12V.
I'm wondering if the FJ70/75's had a relay power them?
70ish watts seems like a lot of current to run through the steering wheel buttons, steering wheel horn contact pin, and the dinky gauge wire running out to the horns. There will definitely be a spark inside the steering wheel assy at the buttons each time the horn is honked if it is passing 6 amps.

If no relay is required, I'd purchase two also. They look really nice.
