Is it as simple as unscrew everything, clean and rebuild?

Pretty much. That motor dust is $&@#'n nasty. When I took the cap of the motor, brushes and springs went everywhere, so it took me a minute to figure out how it went back together.

My brushes are down to the nubs, so thanks @Pacer for the rebuild info. I'll be ordering new brushes.

So some final work tonight: The evaporator.

What a mess this was--dirty grimey, leaves and stuff.

That said, the components looked good overall but decided to change everything.

Back into the kitchen we go:

Then a break and dinner with mom-- hi mom!

(She thinks I'm nuts. But she says it's better than being on drugs, being a gambler, or knee deep with hookers and gin...) Then a Sunday phone visit with CDan-- gloating about his BJ74 and Kimberly Kamper --- :flipoff2:

Then reassembly:

That's about it. Back to the grind in the morning!!

Thanks for checking in.

That looks badass. It's going work badass too.

When I did the AC overhaul a few years ago, I just cleaned the evaporator. It wasn't too bad, but it was such a pain to remove that I vowed never to use the "fresh" air again. I never wanted to pull that sucker again.

Now you have me wanting to seal all my ducts. I know I'm losing quite a few cfm to leakage back behind the dash or by my feet.

It is extremely awesome that these components can be rebuilt or even just taken apart and cleaned after all those years. Some of the photos of new parts vs old are almost impossible to tell the difference. So where is the empty FJ60 shell that you are putting these old parts into to build another rig? :hillbilly:

Absinthe, whiskey, bourbon and mezcal....

What could possibly go wrong!

Ahh... Best not to even go there. :worms::skull:

But your rebuild is sure lookin' smartly!

Is that Lahmahjoon you're having with your moms? I thought you had to go to Glendale for that? :)

Looks like Mom was extremely hungry, Onur was rambling about Toyota parts and didn't eat a thing?

So, I got the Elliot tape in today.

Weird stuff. It only sticks to itself.

I bought three rolls of the polyester tape and 3 rolls of the vinyl.

I am going to use the poly stuff where there is possibility of abrasion against metal or other structures.

I am going to use the vinyl for the other stuff.

Nice looking stuff... well, I guess. It's just plain old black.

He should have enough to assemble an entire second truck. Then comes the tricky question of which one is the original?

It's looking awesome, Beno! I always enjoy your updates.

Hopefully I didn't go off the deep end too much.

After much consternation, I decided to rethink the airbox assy.

Main issue with the 62 airbox is that the bolt is too long and the 1HZ topper does not sit on it as perfectly as I want it too. Also, there is no tuna can.

Off to the diagrams I go and found this morsel.... From an HZJ79 general market truck.

I think it will work. :) If it doesn't work, I did get a back up 1HZ housing that also shows another general market truck. 17700-17360 That one hasn't come in yet and I am waiting till both get here to see which one is going to go into the engine bay.

I just feel much better knowing the parts is new. :meh:

The sticker should say " See Onur's Manual!"

Beno, looking at replacing all of the rubber door seals. How hard is this and what should I expect on price? Do you have part numbers and/or sell these items?
