Look who came inside.... Plan is to strip them down, cut off all existing brackets and prep for install. @cjmoon this is getting real

More. The brake cylinders have different fittings on either side, but the strange thing was the lines were copper. I have heard of using copper for short-term fixes, but never expected to see them on such a heavy duty application.

Awesome information. I don't plan to do disk conversion (yet), so going to need to do this conversion. I have a corvette master I was going to use. Is the one ton master even more volume?
If I remember correctly, the corvette master cylinder has a bore of 7/8" (not sure of stroke). The truck master I linked has a 1 1/4" bore and I believe the same stroke as the corvette.
To put it into perspective, the 80 series master I had with my d60's could not keep up with the calipers/drums needs. No issues at all with the one-ton master.
On another topic: there's a write up on pirate of a guy using some turned rotors, custom brake brackets, and 4runner calipers on his Volvo axles. It's been awhile since I read the thread, but I'll try to find it for you.

thanks @mr jits

THis has been my dumping ground for Volvo info that you posted on that thread too -- not sure if we ever found the portal informaiton on pirate you talked about. Portals C303 Volvo

Have not seen any good instructions for disc conversion. There is a video of a guy that used european toyota parts, hilux parts. Wish I could get more info on that one.

i do believe i have one or 2 gm master to toyota booster adapters lying around.

You da man.
I tried 4 different GM masters before settling on a fixed 1.25" bore MC. You really need to figure out the displacement of the calipers (and whether fixed or floating makes a difference!) and then go based on that. I really think the step bore masters (quick take-up) make a lot of sense but it was just slightly too mushy for the giant JB8 brake calipers I'm still running up front.

FWIW, the copper you saw is common for Volvo, I think. They use cupronickel brake lines at the factory.

Edit - and not all GM masters use the same size pilot so that adapter may need to be bored out a little larger. Unless you use the same 1.25" master I did from a 1995 K3500, which works fine.

I can't find the pirate thread (still pretty sure it was pirate, but maybe in the expo section?), but this thread is full of info: Volvo c303 disc brakes?
I think you're going to be money ahead having your stubs machined to accept a 6 bolt pattern brake disk and then choose your caliper to fit with whatever mounting bracket you can fab up. Hell, most guys running axletechs these days are using dual 4runner calipers on each wheel, I'm sure you can come up with something.

@nukegoat we are talking about drums at all corners. Here is what I can find from manual.

OEM volvo used a 1.125" bore master,

Wheel cylinders were 1.125 front, 1.250 rear. I thought the front had dual cylinder, rear are single.

Thanks for the link. I have been trolling that site for some time; however, updated my name to 1fzpower (sold last 2f last year).

another good discussion at that site.

Oh. Hmm

Rear axle is cleaned up. Need to pull out the locking mechanism, lock the axle and get one side to spend

Took apart the vacuum locking mechanism, to manual engage the locker, and everything worked great. Was able to free up the opposite side. Now I need to figure out how to switch this to their lockers. The mechanism needs about 10 mm of movement between freewheel and locked. It also needs to be out normally retracted when locked
