oh my! I don't know what to say to that. If that was a commercial for something I'd be ordering up whatever they are pedaling.
Yeah, I cant figure out if its trying to sell anything....other then having fun with your dog and a 40. Worked on me though, going to look at an old broke down 1970 40 this weekend!

Pretty girl; hideous homemade roll bar on that 40.

Actually, you're right... It was more like a shower rod and it leaned toward the driver's side.
And for the roll bar haters, how's the roll bar on this one....any better? But for those easily offended by bikinis and beaches please do not press play!

Funny thing about that video, you will notice the screen capture for the video... The FJ40 is a different one than the one in the actual video.. So is the girl I think... Unless I'm missing something...

I noticed from the door handles.

The second one I have seen in Marbella, Spain. It was for sale there.
Unfotunately it was always closed by the time I was at their dealership.
They do sell some nice cars.

There were door handles? There were doors?

Seriously, I'm not complaining... but, the second video spends as much time focusing on the girls' butts and legs as on the BJ, itself.

The roll bar is more substantial on the BJ... may actually protect you in a rollover.

Is this 'Cruiser porn'?

Thanks for sharing, Jen!!

I noticed it was a BJ the third time watching the video.:hmm:
But, nice butts........

Went to rotate my tires, noticed a leaky wheel cylinder, luckily had two rebuild kits, rebuilt both front wheel cylinders, replaced front brake shoes, noticed cracked brake line, replaced front brake lines, adjusted brakes, bled system ,cleaned up mess on garage floor....Whew! Was too tired to rotate tires. Guess I'll tackle that in my "week to ten year plan."

You just perfectly named my approach to anything on the FJ40 that doesn't risk my life, hahaha...

Finally the first start of my engine after getting it placed into the bay. Still have some tuning to do and from the sound of it may have to replace my carb with a rebuilt one but at least I got to hear it run.

Took the two doors to a work area and took off the dried and crusty weatherstrip off with a wire brush cup. It flaked off easily enough. Then took the door panels off, both were as dry and crusty and all but fell off. One window crank handle had the clip installed from the under the handle arm and was a bear to remove and the other was half-assed installed and fell off. Whatever the black goop was that attached the plastic sheet to the door body, it was a bitch to remove. It looked as though it had melted and dripped out from the back of the door panels. I removed it with a lot of rubbing and mineral spirits. A nasty job. Then I removed the door handles, locks and strikers to get them ready for installation of the lower patches and painting. The door panels are attached to the door using small plastic inserts. Does anyone know if these are still available from Toyota?

The clip is available, if that's what you're asking about:

67771-20021

So is the cap:

67772-20021

These are for the steel doors.

Been a bit since I've posted, got the tub blocked and pretty darn straight....finally! I hate wavy side panels.

We'll be laying her on her side Sunday to touch up the bottom, then next week off to be Lined!

We decided it would be better to go with some different fenders, 1 step forward 2 steps back.
DSCN0969.JPG

Had louvers down the side, cut them out and patched it. Still a lot better then the original.
DSCN0970.JPG

These are later model fenders, not as heavy as the 75s. Guess someone needed the coil bracket off this one. Took the one off our original, it'll be welded on before it's sent out with the tub.
DSCN0972.JPG
Front of it was boogered up some, it'll get light skim of filler after I dolly it out.
DSCN0971.JPG
I'll get back on the small pieces once these and the tub are sent to be lined.

I sprayed the bottom of the fenders with Reflex bedliner and started getting them lined up. Now I can start mounting coolers etc!!

My Aqualu 3/4 aluminum tub was delivered 5/4/17, it took the Canadians 3 days to transport it half across the continent and the Americans took 10 days to transport it from Chicago to Maine.
My first impression of the 4005 tub is well made but there are non-advertised characteristics that the buyer really needs to pay attention to (which I did not do) one is that the lower front doors will overlap the door sills, there are no bevels made into the door sills for the door to be flush with the body same for the hard top sides. The second is that stainless steel fasteners are provided but with no option for metric fasteners only SAE fasteners are provided by Aqualu. A 4055 lower half door swing out tailgate was purchased and Aqualu installed it on the body at no extra charge (but didn't use recommended gaskets between the steel and aluminum). The third is the installation DVD that was provided, for me many questions were not addressed, but I'm sure I can figure them out. The suggestion to use a hammer to bend the transmission hump to make it fit was either in humor or disconcerting, for a company that's advertised so much now I would think a more professional and comprehensive installation DVD is warranted (call me old fashioned).

14 years ago I did a wheels up restoration for a 78 starting with 3-78 basket cases, a 71 and 63. Up here the road salt destroys vehicles and most certainly FJ40s. The only rust free body that I could find was a 67 from Arizona offered by Cruiserparts in New Hampshire. Using the 67 body on a 78 chassis and fitting all other 78 body parts on it wasn't hard. Modifications were headers, power steering, de-smog, 50A IR alternator and Weber carburetor. Using mostly used parts, new gaskets and seals I figure it cost me between $5000-6000. with an equal labor cost. This year, after watching the cost of FJ40 parts skyrocket I can see it will probably, at least, double the restoration cost.

The new target color will be 6V7, Skydog has helped me with the project target using computer software. I have a 78 cowling left over and it needs some work, mainly the under carriage on the drivers side as the cross channel that mounts to the frame is rusted away. A friend and fellow cruiser owner owns a company called Sherman's Coachworks and he will help me mate the Aqualu to the 78 cowl and I'll soon have a complete 78 body to replace the 67 (minus the aluminum tub for all you purists'). We will use zinc chromate, epoxy primer, Raptor or Monstaliner on the undercarriage, and two stage 6V7 paint on the interior and exterior body with a low gloss clear coat. Sherman's a professional car restorer and painter, should come out pretty good.

I will post my progress on this thread.

Finally started dismantling my 78, got the hardtop off without tearing the fiberglass roof gasket but the L&R hardtop side gaskets were smoushed. Having a h--- of a time getting out the M12 hardened bolts (rusted) of the roll bar, took me 2-3 hours removing 2 bolts!! Hindsight tells me I should have used anti seize. The two inner bolts of each flange are a bear to access being 1/2 under the top of the rear quarter panel. I moved on after a frustrating time to...of course...the upper outside bolt of the cowl upper door hinges, Toyota sure put these in an in-accessible location. The 78 cowl has rotten floor panels and missing fire wall to frame mounting channels as well as not so good lower cowl pillars, I have ordered both floor panels but will need to find some of the later pieces. I was going to rewire the cowling from scratch but have decided to purchase a used full cowling wire harness to lessen the down time.....it's been 4 days and I'm missing my DD already!
Pictures to come.
