Got some new goodies from CruiserOutfitters! New TRE 555 set, new drag link, steering rag joint, and OEM interior mirror! Just hit all the areas with kroil, time for some soaking and measuring current set-up.

Decided to replace the PO's "unknown" gear lube in both diffs. After an easy job in the front, went to the rear, only to find the fill plug overtightened, rounded off, and unable to remove it using various hand tools. Now I guess I'll have to remove the whole damn cover to have workbench access to deal with this minor irritation.:bang:

Redgrrr- yeah, I considered that option, but with no welder, I'm gonna have to remove the cover anyway to have this done. I don't feel comfortable with "bubba" underneath it with a torch, LOL. Thanks for your input!

Vice Grips usually work... not cheap ones but quality ones.

a coldchisel and BFH work all the time for me

This works everytime! You'd be amazed at how screws, nuts etc. can easily be removed with a cold chisel (or a center punch for smaller stuff.)

Pete

Just got done with this PITA- The PO didn't use a washer under the plug, so it was flat against the housing. I banged and banged using a cold chisel and a BFH, to no avail. Then I drilled a 9/16" hole in the center of the damn plug, and voila! A couple of taps with BFH and she broke free. Then I had to remove the cover to clean out the metal shavings, and ordered a plug, & gaskets. A 15 min job takes 2 days.:worms:

Repaired Side of rear cab where it goes into the door pillar (see pics).
Bit of a challenge, but cut one piece out and bent up, tacked it place, then cut off rusted pipe. Made a extension in my lathe with some pipe of same diameter. Welded that together, then bent up a box section for other side.
It came out all Ok. That's one side finished, now for the other side this weekend.

I'm coming over from the 100 series section so I didn't know where else to post this so I'll just leave it here. Not mine but this '63 FJ43 is for sale by DuPont Registry for a modest $263,000:confused:

Hey anyone know what paint they used on this vehicle?
I would like to put a textured paint onto the rear cab. Hear others have used a rhino liner or textured spray from rust-o-lean?
and then spray painted their desired color over the top.
Anyone done the same or a thread that someone could direct me too?

Thanks lovely truck, but $263K

Are there more pictures of this process anywhere - This repair is absolutely in my future, along with the back sides of the hard top, but all the complex bends are terrifying!

I am trying to get the pressure plate to fit and it is giving me fits I really need to get the landcruiser back on the street. When the landcruiser is running I switch back and fourth from the landcruiser and my mustang.but with the over extended downtime of the landcruiser I have to use the mustang that is until this
