What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week? (24 Viewers)

Put it to work, hauling myself and a chain saw to our future home site. Until we get a road built, the only access is via 4WD trail.

I'm coming over from the 100 series section so I didn't know where else to post this so I'll just leave it here. Not mine but this '63 FJ43 is for sale by DuPont Registry for a modest $263,000:confused:

1963 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ43 - DuPont Registry

Looks like an Icon build. That's quite a markup even for Icon prices.

Well - not an Icon, but it does have a nice shot of a scantily clad lady(?) as the first photo!

Never mind I see the all in one box under the passenger side dash.
Seems to be a Land Cruiser in spirit only. Nothing left of the old style.

I finally get to post in this thread. :sigh:

Serviced the leaky side of my FF rear axle. One nut/stud was stripped. I thought it was the hub itself, so a fairly easy fix instead of a helicoil. Thanks to Ron Diaz of Custom Cruisers FJ40 for moral support and having the stud in stock, on a Saturday, and letting me fix it at his place!

Ron's rig has lots of cool electrical stuff in it, so when I got home, I was inspired to wire up my winch. I've been looking at it for a couple years and not really able to use it. I got a marine positive terminal and some cable lugs at the auto parts and looked up how to crimp them with simple tools on instructables.com. It's amazing that it took me this long when it was really a pretty easy job.

The thing on the right that I didn't catch in the picture is a Flaming River disconnect switch. All the red parts are hot all the time, so insulated with fancy red electrical tape. Next up is a dual battery tray, so please, no grief about the crappy battery hold-down.

Tore the hard top apart to fix some rust issues. Used the Harbor Freight mini detail gun and Rustoleum to paint the inside of the side panels, amby door header etc. If I'd known it would come out so good I would have spent more time on the prep! In the mean time I'm enjoying riding around topless!

I found a local shop who did a lot of work on my truck (better than I could).

Installed aux fuel tank from Marks Offroad -- thanks @65swb45

Also used the skid plate from thetojoman - ebay# 252378877727 -- thanks @Downey

And the tire carrier with cooler carrier from 4plus, Dave spent a lot of time figuring specs out for my truck (non-stock tailgate hinges) - thanks @lcwizard

Thanks @DomSmith for the awesome installation instructions

Added a horn

Fixed my brake lights

Thanks to Alex and Jason at A&C Automotive in Farmington Hills, MI

Looks good.

Finally got it running again. Put in a Petronix ignitor 2. And removed the Rochester carb that has been frusterating me for the past 13 years.

Just need the darn accelerator rod that connects to the carb and it will be completely done. I have a rod from my parts 78 cruiser, the long one. I might just cut it and weld it to the correct length. After that is done and I replace my clutch slave cylinder. The fender will be finally back on.

Thanks! Now to do the other side.

A word of caution... If your fuel filter leaks, or the glass cracks, it'll dump gasoline onto your exhaust manifold.

Loaded it up with 4 days worth of supplies, fun and the wife and kids and headed for the Idaho mountain town of McCall. Who says FJ40s don't have enough room. :)View attachment 1292596
