Well, this is more of a last couple of weeks thing, but here goes anyways.
I finally pulled the top off the 40:
Luckily I didn't find too much rust. Nothing completely rusted through, but definitely some pitting. I had a feeling it would be there due to some rust stains and a little cancer on the inside lip of the top. I wire wheeled it then put a couple of coats of rust converter (turns black) on. I really like this stuff (made by Permatex, no affiliation) because it seems to really coat any rust and convert it to iron phosphate. (No pics).
Next up was to continue my year long battle with the d*mn carpet adhesive a la Tijuana. That stuff is a major pain to get off. I sent $5 bucks to a Carribean voodoo woman put a curse on the PO for putting carpet in a Land Cruiser. Anyways, once I got the tub clean enough I fitted my MetalTech Jackson cage. After I had it set like I wanted I bolted it in and fitted and burned in the front and rear frame ties. Grade 8 hardware used throughout. The frame ties were more work than I had initially thought, but I'm glad I got them in. I got some good father son time in as my dad came out to visit.
My welds aren't the purtiest, but I'm using a ~21 year old, new to me, MillerMatic 200 (which I love) and they look like they'll hold plenty good (a little undercutting and spatter, but hey I just started welding a month ago and I'm self taught
).
Well, that's all for now. I started yesterday on removing the old weatherstripping. My next project will be all new door weatherstripping and window felts (squeegee, etc). Well thats all folks

. So I couldnt reinstall my tranny and t-case. But I got a good deal on some RDB parts so decided to do that instead. Still waiting on parts and the urge to finish the rest of the brake lines to get it all buttoned up and ready to go.
Had a new clutch and exhaust system fitted and drove it for the first time. Great fun.
