What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

I'd use a layer of butyl gasket on the underside of your delete plate. And also wrap a little around the screw threads before you screw it in, to seal the threads. Once you screw the plate in and compress the gasket, nothing will get through it.

That's actually pretty much what's I did last time, but some of the surfaces were dirty I guess.
Maybe i wasnt clear though - my intention is to get it working properly (the rest of the mechanism came in a box when i bought the truck)

I’d like to get mine working too, but while derusting my front end, I snapped one of the small threaded rods that holds the louvre up.

One that didn’t break:

I’m new to 40s so maybe there’s a common solution to this that I haven’t seen. My thought was to cut the threads off flush, drill a hole in the thicker section, then put in some threaded rod with loctite or JB Weld. That way both sides will be able to use the tiny nut and washer like they did originally. Is there a different way to do it?

Sounds like a good plan to me.
Id probably use a screw, and then cut the head off once the epoxy sets

I put the seats back in…and drove it to dinner and then back home. Milestone.

I keep blowing the turn signal / wiper fuse though.

Since the last time I posted it here and not in her thread, she’s gotten a sniper, Trimeki whole enchilada, and a rewire.

She’s a beaut Clark

Pulled my cowl vent delete plate off, as I work through de-rusting the front end, so I share it here for your entertainment or enlightenment.
This is the worst part of the steelwork so far so I can't really complain.
It's pretty obvious why it was leaking onto my feet, and even after installing rivnuts and sealing a plate over it, I'm pretty sure it was still leaking through one of the screws from time to time.
I'm not going to embarrass myself by attempting to weld in there. Not completely decided yet, but I'm thinking some sort of GRP liner.. anyone got an innovative solution?

I've had really good results with using two part weld bond for parts I wanted waterproofed and didn't want to weld. Cut the panel to a decent fit, and glue the new panel down. Also overfill the panel gap with weld bond to. I seals great and gives a ready to paint finish once you sand it flat to the panel. It's a cheaper solution to 3M's panel bond.

Cruiser adjacent, I found these plastic bins on marketplace. Was a mixed lot but pulled out a handful that are from some portion of the Toyota supply chain. Cleaned up well, super sturdy, and will make for good storage for my part pile. A little on the small side, which I think will be perfect for some of the small, easily damaged stuff, electrics, lights, gaskets, trim bits.

For those who store their land cruisers for more than a month at a time…do you find the battery remains charged and ready to start? My Sniper EFI equipped 40 , new but stock alternator is only good for about 6 weeks. Battery is a new Toyota True Start group 27 but turn the key at 6 weeks and the solenoid clicks. I never questioned whether or not the EFI or the Hyperspark ignition is consuming energy. No radio display or other accessory is there. Any thoughts on this?

I have a trickle charger on mine and it still has a parasitic drain. I have started mine a couple of times over the winter too. I have also put my charger on to recondition the battery. I am also running a Grp 31 battery.

The thought of not driving my for 40 for 6 weeks bums me out but I don’t recall needing to jump or charge the battery after she’s sat for any length of time.

I have never looked in to the draw, it could be my radio too.
I give up on this. Something drains the battery after a week or two. If she stay with the battery disconnected, the engine starts with just half a turn even after sitting for a long time.

edit: I forgot to mention that it only happens during cold winter weather.

+1 on both counts.

Regular starts to circulate the Dino and ensure the volts stay volty..
