While cleaning out the garage last week I came across some new shackles for the front springs (rears done last year) and u joints for Lil Red. That prompted me to stop being lazy and replace them. Also cleaned the rear driveshaft and found the stamped alignment mark on there. Lastly, amazing what a factory service manual can do when making repairs. Followed the FSM and made the u joint replacement a piece of cake.

4plus side steps aren’t staying but needed a solution to cover up the mounting holes. Delete plate has a stud for the rear most hole and picks up the stock running board mounting bolts(will be cleaned up and painted rustic green)

I finally was able to pick up the 83 fj60 2f I bought some months ago. It will eventually be paired with a 60 4spd and split case for our old rusty 72 fj40.

The 3 hr drive with it strapped at the back of my 01 taco on frost heaving Michigan highways made for an interesting drive…

Great Combo. All of the 72s coming out of the woodwork lately.

Years ago when we found and bought the barn find 72 i started a father/daughter thread here. I can’t find it now.

I’ve fought my wife to not sell the truck. It matters to me with sharing my LC passion with my now adult kids. Way back when we got the truck my daughter got TBIs from HS cheer junk and she lost focus.

I need to get that truck going for a lot of reasons. My daughter will be 30 this fall and the truck will be a tool for her long recovery with thriving and growing forward.

New TRE’s and steering stabilizer. Hit the easy button and had a friend of mine that owns a shop swap them out for me. I did periodically go out and soak all the old stuff with Kroil the last 2 days. Probably went over them all 5 or 6 times which made disassembly a lot easier. Still had to break out the heat wrench on a couple. Went with 555’s for the ends and went OEM Toyota for the stabilizer.
