I had bought the speaker mounting plates for the front corners of the FJ40 from SOR back in November but I had been waiting for nicer weather in order to paint them. The guys in the audio section of IH8MUD recommended some nicer speakers and they are also sitting in the box. Anybody in the northeast or mid-Atlantic region will tell you weather has not cooperated it’s been 2 degrees some mornings with highs of 14*

Brought them in the basement and placed on a tarp. I had a few rattle cans. Wet sanded them and clear coated …they look as good as the tub. They’re ready to install

What speakers are you putting in them? I have to powdercoat or paint my speaker brackets. I’m on fence to paint them the body color or pewter.

You are right about the cold weather here in NJ. I have been waiting for a non freezing day to paint some body stuff outside. Tomorrow's my day.

I'd like a pic of these in place when you get there.

Those look great. I didn’t bother painting, just left mine raw aluminum. What speakers did you go with?

These are mine in the background. Lazily installed with some inexpensive speakers.

I’m using a Bluetooth amp and re-purposed an early dash mounted room light button that is ignition switched to turn it on. I didn’t want it drawing any power when off, and I forget to turn it off occasionally.

Another note, these were a gift from my wife, and I think they are from FJ company. They don’t fit as well as I’d like, but I don’t know if that’s because it’s a 67 or if they are cut weird.

Went fishing. I was standing around looking at my project when I decided to look inside the holes where the hard top attaches. I fished out a pristine cigarette lighter and a 3/8 extension out of the same hole! The other one just had a food wrapper 👎🏻. View attachment 4086878
When I got Ruftoys 41 years ago, one bolt was missing in the Warn barrel hubs. Got a replacement from SOR, but it wouldn’t go in the hole, so I had to take the hub apart. The PO had apparently forgotten that THAT is where he stashed his spare joint!
