from experience. That air filter is about 1/3 of the size for that engine.
we just about finished up the same swap in a 78 here and it is seriously annoying (in my opinion) to drive with the difference in pedal height between the gas and brake pedal. So I am designed a replacement brake pedal that will bolt in and sit a lot lower which should be a lot more comfortable to drive with the automatic transmission.

I just found my old, old lock tumbler and the clips is much smaller than the new replacement. So now I know I am on the right track and know that if mine is "fiddly" it's working correctly.

@MatthewMcD as a point of reference, I had removed all of the hardware for my 1975 ambulance door in order to re-paint the little door ding. It uses the long retainer clip you have shown.

Just think you can actually maintain it with almost no tools. Look at what it takes to fix the new $120,000 units that are falling apart just going around the block.
I built a trailer. I just mounted the 270 awning, not in the photos. Got the solar up and running today.
I like that unit. I have plans to build a chevy step side pickup bed into am insulated pop up camper trailer. Same wheels/tires as the tow LC, plus it has a spare. I'm thinking about 20 or 30 gallons of gas and 40 gallons of propane. On the tongue a small gas engine to run a AC compressor to make it a big game freezer or 12 DC by electric clutches plus capture the heat off the exhaust for hot water. Might consider a hydraulic pump for a wood splitter too.
That’s on there to get it running so I don’t suck in a rag or paper towel. Hoping to find a Donaldson canister filter that’ll handle the cfms. Will try to route it so the intake is near the vent that draws air for the blower.
When will it be available? I am about to start the same work and the brake pedal and engine mounts would be great to have.

That is not correct. Toyota just ‘streamlined’ something that in his case did not need to be streamlined.
The long clip is designed for applications where a rotating handle sits above the lock cylinder (early-74 front doors/75 &newer rear ambulance door) The long clip is not necessary when there isn’t a rotating handle involved. And as he found out, it actually creates an interference problem with the cam where there was none before.
It is likely that Toyota is not even aware of this problem if they are supplying new hatch locks with the long clip.
