I finally got around to filling the hole in my bumper. I've been cleaning and rebuilding an 8274 that's been sitting on the shelf for yrs.

I really like the patina on my rig, but patina on plastic has never been my favorite. Seeing how properly applied SEM color coat did wonders on some of my 80 series interior, decided to give it a go on the Arizona sun-bleached center console on the 40. Very happy with the result, but can see that I’m gonna need to refinish the seatbelt receptors and speed up the future seat recover project. Now back to the d### weatherstripping job…..

Swapped out the old battery cables on both 40's with the kit @Fourrunner makes. They are great. Also went with new fusible links from @Coolerman.

Where did you get that bumper?

I made it. It's 1/4" wall 2x4 rectangular tubing. Now I need to alter my bolt on deer catcher, because of the plug location.

Fitted a new thermostat (the first one its had for a while - I thought it was taking a while to get up to temperature!).

I took advice from another post I saw recently to clean and paint any part you remove prior to replacing. I now have one clean part on the engine at least ;)

In the process I noticed that my fan isn't fully shrouded by the cowling because my whole radiator assembly leans forwards. The support rods look about right. Is it supposed to be like this or did someone change the rods??

Your shroud is absolutely perfect. You want the back of the fan to stick out like that.

I rebuilt my center arm and draglink end yesterday. I am swapping my fj40 back to manual steering been collecting the parts over the last month. I should be ready by the end of the week. Of course I am waiting on a 5 dollar relay rod end clamp. I was planning on reusing all the clamps for the tierods and ends that are already on the 40 but whoever converted my fj40 to power steering welded the draglink tube to a tie rod tube to make it work. so I have two different clamps. Dont worry I have the pins for the castle nuts!

Looking good. If you haven't already, hit the silver parts of the ends with some clearcoat. They'll quickly rust otherwise. Ask me how I know

freshly powder coated OEM wheels, brand new OEM hubcaps, new Kenda Klever 33-9.50x15. I don’t remember the color the shop used but I can get it. He said it’s his most popular color for FJ40 rims. I wanted a shade lighter than my soft top frame from Real Steel.

Finally put the con-ferr roof-rack to use a couple weeks back with a 10 ft piece of PVC pipe. I didn't want to over do it:rofl:. Top is coming off this weekend and I can't wait.

A few months ago my original tool bag hold down band kicked the bucket. @cwags12 has some OEM bands and I also needed the catch since mine was pretty rusted. The price was right and he shipped them right out. He reproduced the catch and it is spot on to the OEM piece. I'm a fan of yellow zinc so I had the piece he sent me yellow zinced like all the other interior hardware. Thanks Clint!
