So after about two + years of sitting of the fence I am starting to make provisions for a LM7 4L60E swap.
Other than taking the grill off, removing the radiator and taking out the aftermarket horn I installed last year.
I am starting into the high pressure fuel side of things. So Rusty has an auxiliary tank behind the rear axle which I will be using for the master tank. I bought a LM7 appropriate fuel pump which is ginormous by the way. Had to cut the bottom of the tank and weld on an extension sump so it would all fit. Got the box welded up and then welded onto the bottom side of tank. Got the pump loosely fit into place and pretty happy with the outcome.
Also positioned the tank into place to confirm clearances.
Also cut an access panel in the bed so the future replacement is simple(r). Going to hinge the front edge and weld in some tabs so that it rests is the same place.

Addressed a dent that was filled with bondo. It impacted a fairly large area because this was obviously a hard it. Some things were pushed in, or up, or out. I always find it interesting how things shift when they get damaged. It’s 90% better. The edge profile is a little sharper than it should be. It can be solved by building it up and grinding to the correct profile. I’ll swing back and fix that when I do my final fit and finish. One less thing, sorta.

Gave it a urban workout yesterday by ice house hopping in Houston with my better half! She also had to drop by the Kemo Sabe pop-up store to pick up a custom hat…it is rodeo season here after all!

What started out as just addressing a rusty tire carrier turned into a “hold my beer, I’m gonna try something” exercise in red-neckery…….
Thinking I’ll pin the blame on whoever posted that Ace Hardware’s Ivory gloss rattle can is a dead ringer for 033 Toyota white (It’s damn close)

Replaced this not very old bypass hose that developed a small hole that urinated all over my engine compartment. Usually I see hoses split or disintegrate over time, not sure what this little hole is about. Can’t remember where I got this, it was a kit with all the hoses, probably aftermarket 🤷‍♂️. Put in the Toyota 16261-60011 “bypath” 😂 hose. Hopefully it will keep the rig’s bladder in check.

I got one of those "special" hoses a couple years ago..🤣

I washed it today. I found the tailpipe coming loose, then putting it back in the garage noticed it wasn’t charging anymore. I have at least one frozen wheel cylinder. Little problems are starting to add up.
