I intend to do that one day, but have not done so yet. That was actually suggested to me by the sales rep at TLC about 15 years ago.

The gas pedal's cover is off, allowing a fraction of an inch extra access for the right foot, good especially for tall people.

Ah! That is the firewall support plate for the Saginaw-converted column. That’s not it, but it’s the closest guess yet!

Had to go run an errand. None of the guesses since I posted are correct. But @Polecat was definitely warm on the firewall brace.
