Just hit a deer with 08 lx570

Will be interesting to see if a solid bumper is an option for repair. Front bumper is trashed

Looking good!
Does the garage alpha grille come finished in matte black paint and clear or is it just raw plastic?

Looks great on black and white rigs either way.
Comes in a flat plastic black. I had mine painted but they messed up and applied clear. I need matte to match the chrome delete vinyl and wheels so back it went. Just need to go pick it up. Gloss version attached.

Today, I rotated tires, mounted our Thule cargo box onto the roof cross bars, and bled the entire AHC system again.

The suspension feels MUCH better this time. I think I had some air pockets in the system last time I bled it.

But then, on the way home, I gave it a lot of gas to pass someone (not flooring it), and RPMs went up as it shifted, and then when I let off the gas and the RPMs fell, IT DID IT AGAIN: my voltage spiked to 17V, my headlights brightened way up (which burned my low beams out), and the head unit lost volume. Here’s a short video where I caught it happening a few weeks ago:

Everything I did today listed above was in preparation for an upcoming road trip. Guess we’re taking my truck now. I’ll throw a new alternator at it when we get back. I don’t know what else it could be.

I can’t find a single other case of a voltage surge burning out a 200 or 570’s headlights. Will document this for everyone’s sake in case it comes up for someone else.

Took the 2021 in for it's 40k mile service. I can do everything from the maintenance manual, but the wife feels better when I have the professionals do stuff.

Dealer said my rear brakes are at 5mm, is this normal? My fronts are at 8mm.

They asked if I wanted a power steering flush AND a brake flush. I asked why and they said they recommend it every 30k. Nothing in any manual about flushing either of these and I told them to pound sand.

I also locked my glove box and kept my keys except the fob. The dealership then said my cabin air filter needed to be replaced. I asked how they even looked at it since I locked the glovebox and they just shrugged their shoulders.

Won't be back to this dealer probably.

Competent shops around here take photos of everything they check and download them to the customer for their viewing pleasure. The customer then tells them what they want done. I would think that would be SOP nationally for dealers.

If it hasn’t been done before, your brake fluid is due for change imo. I’m also a big proponent of fluid changes early though compared to what is in the manual. With that said, if you don’t want to do it yourself find another shop. This one seems like they are trying to upsell stupid stuff and just have a checklist to do so vs actually checking (vis a vis your cabin filter).

It takes me longer to do things myself, but at least I know they were done properly.

Typical dealer shenanigans.

I remember being quoted $90 to replace the cabin air filter last time I was at a Toyota dealer for an alignment many years ago.

That works out to $10,800/hr rate for a 30 second job o_O

Did they do a good job?

I didn’t let them replace the cabin air filter.

But if you’re asking about the alignment, no, they did not. It shook on the highway around 55mph after the alignment. Lol. This was on my Tundra, by the way. It needed an alignment after I swapped out the TRD Off Road shocks and coilovers for the TRD Pro kit made by Fox that gives a 2” lift up front. They whined that it had an “ aftermarket lift kit” so no guarantees. I kept telling them it was an OEM setup; just use the program in their machine for the TRD Pro trucks. I think they caved and did that the second time because it’s been perfect ever since.

I was jk. mainly geared at the cabin filter replacement rate of $10,800/hr calculus of actual labor payout.

New pads and rotors on the rear.

Was going to also do the @sleeoffroad stainless brake lines, but they come with zero instructions for a 200. Their 200 kit has pictures of an 80/100 series. Why do they do this?
