A few things from the last few weeks:

1) Installed the Prestigious Society DVD Nav override. Works as advertised.
The truck spends most of its it as a mall cruiser, so it is great to be able to enter address, etc. while driving around town, without having too get out the ram mounts and larger devices. Cleaner design - short of the replacing the whole head unit. If I know I need offroad maps and radio, then the gadgets come out. Right now I have the Ram ball mount in the front left grab bar and the inflatable ram mount for between the console and seat. At some point, I would like to get the part numbers on trim pieces around the ashtray and drill in mounts. I feel like I need a back out plan before getting out the drill.

2) Tough Dog Lift
Gained about 2 to 2.5 inches all around. (now I need to weight it down... )
Excellent customer service from Trail Tailor.
Torfab did an excellent job. No lean. I was going to get SPC upper control arms. But they came in a day late and I needed the truck back. Torfab was able to get the truck into factor spec without them. 2000+ miles later, still drives straight at speed and under quick acceleration. I'll continue to check for tire wear. Now I am not sure if I need them... I had airbags in the stock coils, so as @linuxgod did, I ordered the taller firestones and had airbags put back in. When towing the tongue weight is probably only 425lbs. Next time I tow, I'll try without any air in the bags to get a better feel of the coils.

3) Trip to Capital Reef and Maze district of Canyonlands
2000+ miles of pavement, 100+ miles of gravel, and unfortunately only 20+ miles of 4x4 trails. We stayed at Panorama Point in the Maze district for one night. The suspension/truck did great with 4 adults and two kids. At every obstacle, it seemed like I would get out and analyze the tracks of those before me. Zig zag here, avoid this, wheel here.... Got back in the truck and drove straight up the middle.
A moment of Sunshine overlooking the valley (after the hail and before the wind)

Hmm.... No guard rails at the edge of this campsite.

4) Bud Built Stage 3 AL is sitting in the garage.... I was not able to install before the trip, but hope to get them on in the next few weeks and get some more off road time. Maybe they will protect my alternator when I follow @tbisaacs (I'll own him a beer for that comment)...

That was low Derek . Truck looks awesome!

Nice. I loved Canyonlands.

At 425# (assuming that's measured TW and not just manufacturer advertised) you probably won't need much air in the airbags. If you have a WD hitch you likely won't need any. The TD springs are 240#/in in the rear, vs 170#/in for the stock coils.

Alignments seem to be hit or miss. I couldn't get anywhere near specs without the SPC UCAs even with the cam tab fully open, but others have had good success. I like to run caster as far positive as I can within spec though as it helps the truck track straighter when towing (less wander). If you're able to get +3 degrees caster with stock UCAs then I agree you don't really need the SPCs. If "within spec" means you're running at the low end of caster though you might want them as more caster = less highway wander.

Not sure how many miles are on your rig but if you've got 100k+ you might keep them as eventually you'll need upper ball joints anyway. Also if you did the alignment right after the TD install you may want to have it redone now that you've put a few thousand miles on it, since the springs will definitely settle a bit and reduce the lift slightly as they break in.

Long story short... Took truck in to get front windshield brow tint. Installer cracked windshield. Got brand new windshield and brow tint for free (awesome because I had a large existing crack in the windshield also)

And also ordered SPC UCAs and wheel spacers from Slee.

Awesome, the brow tint seems very useful - on street/track cars I've done banners and they also look great. One thing another user brought up: check replacement windshield seal. Just something to double check before anything has the opportunity to go wrong!

Looking forward to how it looks after the UCA's and spacers.

Oh man... Thanks so much for the heads up. I was coming out of the house after the install and noticed the top part of the driver's side windshield trim looked a little odd. I checked it and it's a little loose and I'm pretty sure it wasn't that way before. Any idea what's the best way to check for leaks?

Dang, sorry to be the bearer of possible bad news, but better safe than sorry. Maybe PM the OP or others in that thread and see if they have some insight for you! I am not sure personally how to check for windshield leaks besides a hose haha.

Added the OEM 43136-60020 Front Coil Spacer today! Stock suspension otherwise - pretty noticeable height gain in the front. Levels out the forward rake and gives a nice approach angle.

What brand of tint did you go with???

Thank you. Haha, I brightened the shot to get a really clear look at the lift in the front after the front coil spacer. Easy to see how it sits perfectly level now, without the nose lean as well. But if you'd like those lights for your garage, they're Sylvania recessed LED lights, and the bulbs in the garage door openers have been changed to Philips LED bulbs as well.

Got my 1st real mod done:

Tough Dog lift:
  • 41mm Foam Cell Complete Strut Assy (FRONT Winchbar & Winch springs)
  • 41mm Foam Cell Rear Shocks with Light (0-660 lb) Rear Springs
I got about 2.75" front and 2.25" rear, it rides great even with the heavy front springs. I will be getting a bumper soon, just waiting for Slee to get more TJMs.

How have you like this set up? Can you post an updated picture? Did you ever get 33’s?

Did you install yourself? How was it?

I did it myself. It wasn’t terrible, just time consuming. Lots of little issue ate me up today like poor housekeeping. I had one of the lollipop nuts fall into the frame, but it was easy to fish out with a flat tip screw driver and a neodymium magnet.

Krylon Tough Rust Enamal semi-gloss is nearly a perfect match to BB’s powder coat. A floor jack and jack stands are a must if you’re doing it alone. There’s also a couple really tight places on the driver side where a box-end ratchet wrench was very useful.
