They also cost an absolute fortune to ship! $455 was the quote I got to PA.

Wow! Mine were only around $180 to ship, though I also live a few miles from a UPS depot.

Thx. I’ll check the space. It would go in place of one jerry can inside my Slee, 3-can basket. Prob not enough room but I’ll measure & post.

Edit to @TonyP -Max footprint of 14.25”x7.75”

Other alternative is almost doubling that to 14.25x14.0” taking the spots of 2 cans, keeping only one on my bumper for quick use, faucet, etc...& other 2 inside, lower & centered between axles in second row.

If anyone knows of a 14x14” footprint weather-proof-kid box about the height (or a bit less) of a jerry can...I’d love to know.

For your viewing pleasure.

@Recon Aircrew - I use the Metaltech sliders on my 100 and they hold up very nicely to rocks and trees. It looks like you went with a powdercoat over traditional paint?
Correct. Powdercoat.

That looks nicer than any ammo can I’ve seen!
But I’m actually not needing a jerry can to fit inside it.. It just needs to be the same bottom dimensions of a jerry can so it can squeeze in place of if of my three jerry csns in my 3-can basket.

Might need to break down have make a custom size basket made to accommodate larger ammo cans like that one.

Hmmmm... Wheels turning :)

Thanks @TonyP!

Went through my drawers and side fit kit spaces to work on reducing weight.

Believe it or not...I dropped a good 35lbs...despite how FULL my drawers are in pic below. Main reduction was in heavy tools, redundant smaller items like sockets, liquids and items I had accumulated amongst similar, small items (bolts, etc).

The space they used was replaced by lighter stuff I always have on trips anyway, but scattered in other bags I end up digging through. So now saving the space those bags won’t take, and keeps drawers full enough to be silent/motionless inside.

Weight efforts will continue...
Hoping to replace one of my 3 water cans with lighter recovery stuff in its place on my swingout. So much water weight there not good.

Maybe something as simple/cheap as this large ammo can I saw today on a nicely built 4Runner- would be super handy, and keep a muddy rope outside after messy use...

@Markuson , what happened to your TrekBoxx? I must have missed that discussion.

SAI bypass. First problem I’ve had of any significance with the 200. Toyota covers the 5.7 on the tundra and sequoia but not in the LC. Dealer and corporate said no. Don’t have time to fight it when the bypass is only 199. Life goes on.

Paid the dealer to evac and recharge the AC system. A frequent hissing and compressor cycling made me think refrigerant level was low even though air temp was plenty cold. It was. A member with a 2015 had the same issue so 🤞 there’s no leak needing attention.

Ordered this paint touch-up kit.

Stargazer Black Metallic (217) is the paint code of my LX.

I've got a few dozen rock chips that I'd like to fill in. Two chips - one on the fender and one on the rear part of the roof (no idea how that one even happened - probably w/ previous owner) have tiny specs of rust forming. Idea is to carefully scrape off all rust with a small, sharp tool, and then touch up the paint.

No worries. I was in my storage unit anyways, figured I'd snap a pic.

I don’t have a trekboxx. I have just the ARB drawers.
Maybe thinking of @indycole?

My rear cargo area is Velcro city... but no trekboxx. :)

Was looking for a place to mount the fire extinguisher. Wanted to check with the guys here to make sure I won't mess up any HVAC lines or anything it I drill 2 holes for the bracket in the area circled in red

The reason I have avoided mounting mine in the second row floor area is because on trips, gear bags and other miscellaneous items including passenger feet often ups cure or prevent access to that area in an emergency. For me, the only place in the entire truck interior that is never obscured by gear is the spot at the front of my own drivers seat. No additional items are ever placed there, and I can fit a larger extinguisher there with a flexible hose… Which means it might give me a few extra seconds in a nasty interior fire by spraying it all over the interior without even detaching the extinguisher.

This would seem an extreme example, but sometimes the difference between unlocking your own seatbelt or burning in the fire could be made by the extra one, two, or three seconds afforded you by a major blast into the cabin.

The more likely occurrence, and incidents that have actually happened twice already, is a fire that is X ternal to my own vehicle… Where with in one second of stepping out of my drivers door… This drivers seat extinguisher is already in my hands ready for use.

Have you thought about these? Rampage Jeep Products: Trail Gear
I have the open container one mounted to my bumper. (I painted it silver).

Yes, but since it needs to sit in a basket, though, I’m hoping for a top-access-only unit. Just want to be able to pull recovery straps out quickly without having to remove can or the seals that secure it.

It’s more a size constraint. Eventually, a different basket or a modified basket will do the trick.

Was hoping to get lucky and find something that would fit without modification...but probably pipe dream.

The one I have is just an open can. The top swings open, no drawers or hinged front panel.

@Markuson so there by your right knee on the side of the center console is what you are suggesting?
I thought about initially doing it by the passenger left knee but that didn't seem like it'd be an easy grab in case of emergency. I tested as if I needed it from the rear of center console and didn't seem too bad
Didn't think about gear and other aspects that you mentioned..

I believe @Markuson is referring to the location directly in front of the seat, right below the drivers knees.

This is in my 80, but you get the idea:
