What have you done to your 200 Series this week?

There are quite a few sets out there.. my issue is majority are pretty beat up (stuck or broken bolts, fading clear coat, scratches and dings, missing or faded caps) particularly for the asking prices.

A proper refurbish with a wheel shop can easily add $750-1000 to the cost of the wheels and that is if they are able to perfectly match original finish plus the cost of original good condition caps.

At that point, a set of BBS's could be had for about the same price. A wheel that is much newer, likely all original (not refinished) and much easier and cheaper to get OEM new centercaps for.

What should one expect to pay for a fresh set of BBS these days? Looks like straight from Toyota you're looking at $1k per wheel.

From what I've seen, a used a set of 4 in black Tundra BBSs typically run $2000-2700. New, they can be had around $3200-$3400 from Toyota.

A set of 4 in bronze Heritage Edition typically see a slight premium and are a bit rarer on a used market. New, they are about the same price as the black versions.

You can get them for about $860 each if you get them from a dealer with good prices. And unfortunately when Toyota does their 20% off sales wheels don't seem to count as they are "accessories" not parts?

The HE PT960-60200-05 is about $808 plus tax and shipping from the Toyota of Richmond online store called Ourisman Toyota parts.

And the center cap PT280-60200-05

PT960-60200-05 for anyone looking

Might be in the minority but I’m not looking to throw the HE wheels on my base model. Probably go with black when it comes times for new tires and I’ll do it all at once.

did a suspension refresh.

Took out the trusty old OME shocks and Dobinson’s springs and installed Dobinson’s LMS shocks, new springs, new bump stops, Dobinson’s aluminum UCAs, LCA skids with KDSS relocated, and a new panhard bracket.

Truck handles the additional weight much better and doesn’t feel quite as spongey as it did.

Solid chioce mate, are you having to run a DD kit on that thing with so much lift?

Defeated P2714 and P0761. All it took was this giant thing.

Is anyone successful fixing this issue without replacing a transmission? How bad was the condition when the pan was dropped, or did you jump to replacement immediately after seeing these codes?

I tried a fluid swap which didn’t help, and after reading people chasing valve bodies ($1k) and swapping solenoids ($200-500), I bit the bullet for a trans ($3,500). When they dropped mine it was burned up pretty good.

Dang seeing more transmissions being replaced with 200 series getting up there in miles. How many miles were on the transmission? Trying to get a sense when I may need to keep an eye on things.

Was at 190k, I’m kicking myself for not being a bit more diligent in swapping the fluid. When I had the rear main seal done about a year ago, I should have done fluids and checked the level then.

Moving or digressing from the VDub/Porsche world, I saw this useful tool to remove the oil filter can. Nice thing is that it's pre-tensioned so it clicks when you reach the desired ft/lbs.

Bought the drain hose as well.

I remember your screename from the PIWIS threads haha.

Dang it, I just ordered the motivx kit with the drain hose, funnel and the filter wrench.
I like that this has a built in torque spec.
