In the various YouTube videos I've seen for the DIY "Road Showers", they typically use block foam on the cross bars. They cut out a section so that it wraps around the cross bar. Then, they cut out a "cradle" for the PVC. Then, they ratchet strap the thing down.

I guess one could also do this:

1.) Cut a 1" thick slice of PVC endcap
2.) Permanently mount a bolt that goes thru the "closed" end of the cap and thru a corresponding hole in the crossbar
3.) Dremel out a channel in the "open" side of the endcap for the shower to rest in
4.) PVC glue the shower onto the mounting plate/foot
5.) Use butterfly bolt and lock washer to tighten from underneath

Hope that makes sense. You'd have portability and more security

I guess one could cut a slit in each side of the plate/foot and run a ratchet strap thru it and over the shower for added security.

Please excuse my rudimentary Microsoft Paint skills. Hopefully this sheds light on my above description

I got there eventually but the picture certainly helps ;) This is a good idea as well! If I had access to a good shop with CNC capabilities, there'd be no stopping me...these vehicles are like a sandbox.

Primer and more primer! Not my Barbies, belong to my daughter!!

Parked it near some friends on a fishing trip.

Found ethanol-free premium and averaged 17.6 mpg on the 270 mile drive back (numerous small town slow downs, passes, interstate etc.) hauling minimal weight. Usually get about 15 mpg on this stretch with similar loads.

Nice, what was the price difference to get ethanol free?

ca. +$0.40/gallon compared to 87, will continue to gather data points as available.

Put a Time-Sert in my oil pan. Brake fluid exchange with DOT 5.1. Lubed the drive shaft. Replaced the front cigarette lighter with a dual usb/volt meter.

I added an RCA video out port to push the dash DVD to the headrest monitors.
The t-taps in the 1st picture were replaced with proper soldered connections and a shielded video cable.

Video in motion was already done by a previous owner.

Installed a CB antenna in prep for HIH (I'll be getting there late because of work obligations). While I was back there being annoyed at the broken letters decided WTH, yank'em and clean up with the 3M disc that's been waiting. Took only 15 minutes:

I know I have more pressing things to get done before a 1000 mile trip but man was it bugging me to see "Lan Cruiser"!

Right would be:

Dave's Cruzer

It's pretty fantastic having @cruiseroutfit right down the street. Thanks to whoever got a new ARB bumper so I could have a little less rust.

And stick welding a captive nut down the frame rail can eat a dick.
