What have you done to your 100 Series this week?

When did you get your headers? I had put in an order with XAT back in early November and never heard anything.
I just emailed them back, saying I’m most likely going to cancel this order.
September '24 😳
ticking just suddenly got worse so I checked plugs first to make sure there wasn't also an issue there. a couple were only about hand tight, so glad I checked, but definitely time to address the manifolds.

I guess a "while I'm there", installing the headers I've been sitting on for a year and a half, might as well do the windshield fluid tank delete, UCAs, AHC shock brackets, and sensor lift... 🙄

“What have you done to your 100 Series this week?”?? Well, we totaled it. 😔 Snowbank rollover at about 55-60 mph.

Daughter was driving with a friend and they walked away without a scratch.

EDIT - clarity of who was in the vehicle

Yikes. Glad the kids are okay but does that imply someone else (or you) aren't okay?

Finally got the oil changed with Mobil 1 Synth and a pint of Marvel Mystery and an OEM filter. BIG BONUS, found out it was possible to do the oil and filter w/o removing the skid plates AND installed a Fumoto oil drain valve to make it even easier. And put a 10mm poly spacer atop the driver/rear coil to level things out a bit. Thanks, Trevor! 🍻

Still need to do the front pass. side wheel bearings - parts inbound from Kurt. Went with Koyo bearings.

Big sad apparently the DT are discontinued. Might be trying to get some headers from Australia now. I saw a 3d printed turbo manifold, I wonder if that’s a possibility for N/A headers

Unfortunately I was only able to replace 1 LCA due to the bushing tool seized and I had to hit it with a sawzall. Also didn’t help that I installed the frame bushing a little too much and had to bang on it a bit to get the other arm in.

Bought both arms during a BF sale last year so figured I could try to minimize the amount of bushing/ball joint work needed

Replaced my 27 year old rear sway bar links with Trail Tailor extended ones, old ones were making noise going over bumps and generally worn out. Should have put these on when I lifted my ‘99 10 years ago but I am not sure they even existed then! 2 banana job on my Texas truck. Will do the fronts this week. Need to replace my shocks next.

The Trail Tailor extended links are nice… But I don’t like the cup washers they provide for bushing retention.

The OEM bushing cups are larger O. D. and have a better shape to retain the bushing from squeezing out the sides. I drilled out the I. D. on my OEM bushing cups to work with the Trail Tailor links. Deburred the I. D. and applied a dab of rust converter primer with a Q-tip, followed with a touch of paint to protect the I. D. from corrosion.

They work great.

Best of both worlds for my application.

Nice, I’ll keep this in my memory bank! I’ve owned her since ‘01 and she is no longer a daily driver. I probably put less than 3k miles per year so I have some time to monitor (I’ll keep the old parts just in case)!

Replaced the timing belt last weekend. About 16 hours of work, cleaning, etc. Far more involved than a 3rd gen 4Runner or v6 Camry.

348K now on truck, so I assume this is the 3rd belt. The belt (which had 105K on it) looked like new, and the water pump was tight, but the fan bracket was clearly worn out - axial play and a big grease stain in the back side.

Buy this crank holder tool for $21 on Amazon - really, you need it! Very sexy and easy to use - holds the harmonic balancer with a deathgrip.

Total parts price - Aisin timing belt kit, Aisin fan bracket, seals, coolant, etc. - from Rock Auto - $403.

Do you feel any difference/improvement driving it?
Haven’t driven enough to really tell, it did eliminate a rattle sound coming from the rear of my vehicle. That, replacing old bushings and correcting the sway bar geometry was my primary objective. I really don’t think it will change much how it drives, perhaps cornering? I’ll report back with any feedback of note after I have driven for a while.

DT isn't making the LC100 headers anymore

Wow! Guess I'm glad I got them when I did, though they're still sitting in the box in the garage waiting for the day I want to tackle the job along with a new steering rack and other "while I'm in there" parts.

@jaewastooshort Was the washer fluid tank a delete or relocation?

it's intended to be a temporary delete... going to tie hoses and wiring up out of the way until I can figure something out with relocation. the pumps aren't working at the moment (haven't had time to trouble shoot yet), but at this point I'll just figure that out when I get around to doing a relocation.

Started the process of replacing head gaskets. Only 138,000 miles but age does its thing. Last October's Death Valley trip had some hard pulls on pavement. Up and over passes running from one destination to another. Slowed all the way to 45 - 50 MPH wide open throttle. I was concerned about cylinder pressure and sure enough... Will send the heads out to be redone while they are off.
