Yes, looked clean and up to the mark. I drove 3500 miles uneventfully from Portland OR to Boston. I am pretty sure I need a transmission mount and the front diff bushings. The transmission will get a flush as soon as I can get to it among a slew of other items. The good news was that the engine and transmission appear to be in very good health. I need to get the car up on a lift to complete my eval of what I need to do to get it ready some cross country trips next year But very happy with it so far!
• both newly rebuilt using 4x OEM u-joints DS now balanced by Adam’s Driveshafts Las Vegas, hopefully that vibration when under load gets fixed.
• prep’d the L&R VVTi intake camshafts for seal replacements, awaiting new seals to come in the mail.
• finalized driver side oil catch can (PCV delete), passenger side ready as well.
• prep’d the oil pump area to get the front crankshaft seal replaced as well.
Fan bracket, pulleys, timing belt, drive belt, tensioner are all in excellent shape and under 30k miles so will be reusing them.

As much as I wanted a Gobi or equivalent rack, I couldn’t justify the price for leisure use.
So decided to try out the Amazon special base rack for $260ish shipped. Attaches right to the stock rails. Has T-slots as well.
Only 150lb rating but more than enough for me for extra storage.
Also didn’t want the full coverage of a full length rack. Always liked the 3/4 look.

New globes and wipers today. Took about 3 hours. Easy job really. Just took my time. If you plan on it get the wrench from @cruiserpatch. Perfect fit for the globes and has a spot to add a 1/2” wrench if you need more oomph. Running on 240k with original globes and fluid (I think). AHC still worked well, just getting bouncy. Still have to check the pressures. Front was over 9 before change! I’ll reindex the torsion bars if needed. Globes from Impex Japan for about $600 for all 4, shipped, tariffs and all!
Looks great with the veneer taken off! Funny you say granny steps. I often drive my 93 year old MIL around so mine are still on!
Looks great! Where did you source the framing? I’ve always used 3/4 and 1/2. This looks better for someone with my somewhat limited carpentry skills.Finally making some progress on my drawers, Version 2.0. Version 1.0 lasted 11 years, but was heavy as hell and awkward to remove and reinstall (3/4" ply for EVERYTHING). I'm still making a few tweaks, but hoping to have it mostly done this week. The panel with the fuse block and DC-DC charger is going to be moved forward, so the driver side drawer will be 36" long with a lower 36" slide for a stove.

Changed the cabin filters and cleaned the evaporator, AC blows colder with more output through the passenger side dash vents. 30F delta in stop and go traffic over 10 minutes on my commute home isn't terrible, time to start researching parts for adding a condenser fan as my '04 doesn't have one.
Also swapped the weather techs for well visors, quite happy with them thus far!

I didn't realize they got rid of the fan on the '03+, but that might explain why my '06 seems to be worse when sitting compared to my 2000. That might also explain what the still new in packaging small fan the previous owner gave me is for.
My 05 does terrible in traffic as well.
My 2000 did mostly city driving, and I never had an issue with the AC being cold. I thought maybe I just have an issue with the system, but the other day I drove an hour and a half across town where it was nice and cold, and once I parked the AC started warming up.
Luckily this thread made me do some digging on the condenser fan earlier, and I just took a look at what was in a box of parts from the previous owner, and it's a complete kit. A still sealed in plastic fan, a relay harness, and the mounting kit that someone here used to sell. Now to see if I can get it installed before I leave in two days.

And it's in. I didn't use the supplied switch, because I hate aftermarket switches I have an 80 series locker switch, as that's the only blank spot on the '06 panel. I had FR/RR already wired for driving lights, so I added the fan to RR. Only downside is using the lights will mean the fan must also be on, but that's not a big deal. I can find a more elegant solution later when I have time.
Testing was minimal, but it was still 90° at 9pm, and it was almost immediately blowing cool while just sitting in my driveway. Seems promising, shame I didn't realize I had this lying around sooner, the bad traffic coming home would have been a much better test.
