I’ve now sewn this steering wheel two times. My first time around I used an incorrect method for sewing, leaving big gaps. I was very unhappy with it so I redid the whole thing. It came out much better the second time around, using one needle and doubled up thread, opposed to two needles and a single piece of thread to lace baseball style stitching. Worked on it after work so it’s dark. nothing like a needle and thread therapy session.

Did my CVs and brake pads yesterday. I thought the new CVs would fix the pull to the right I started getting in the last few days, but no dice. Steering rack is leaking & the bushings are nearly shot so it might be time for a new one. Also developed a slight vibration on the left after re-leveling the suspension. Jacked her up too much I’m guessing

Broke 4 tabs off of a front Bora spacer like an idiot. Drove to work totally fine but definitely ordering a new set.

I learned from a lot of mistakes sewing on a leather steering wheel cover, so I created a video of how I replaced the OEM leather steering wheel cover on my 2000 Land Cruiser. Although I made many mistakes, I'm proud of the final result. I hope anyone looking to do this same restoration will take some tips from my video. Thanks for watching!

Finally got around to installing morimoto with lous bracket. Haven't finished the leveling just yet but all wiring is done and very happy with light output. Will be breaking them in on white rim trail in a few weeks!

Thanks! I bought a kit from amazon that goes on over my existing cover, and was working on it last night. But I'm close to the end and there's a gap that I'm trying to close, and I pulled it so tight I've broken the thread twice. Doubling up the thread should work, I'll try that for this section.

Nice! Have all the parts on hand but been putting it off for a while now. Any tips you could share?
Just a couple:

1. Be patient
2. see the first one!

nothing to it but to do it! its pretty straightforward but I took my time. removing corner lenses has been the worst part so far.

Nooooo! Remove the old leather and get the OEM kit, you won't regret it!

I have a pair of Diode Dynamics SS3 MAX Spotties laying around from my previous light setup on the bumper and figured to put it in good use again. I looked at different ditch light brackets out in the market but I wanted a low profile one, and is leveled so it doesn’t look wonky. Ended up liking one in amazon. So I did a mock up on how it would look like. Using a beveled washer to get the correct level I want, I think I may have found my combo.

Will post soon on the end result. Cheers.

I replaced the oil cooler in my wife’s JK Wrangler. The second one in its short 154k miles. The thought of doing it brought on PTSD from the last time.

I know, not a 100, but it sure makes me appreciate how much better our trucks are, and how much easier they are to work on.
