Last night I started with the removal of my Tcase! Got her out this morning! Wahooo! Gonna replace high gear with underdrive.

Stuff I worked on this weekend:
Old John Deere riding lawnmower. Got the lawnmower for $300. It supposedly ran last year but I couldn't get it started when I got it home. Cleaned carb, put new gas with some Seafoam in it, figured out the rigged kill switch and starter button, reattached the throttle cable to the makeshift, add-on throttle lever. Runs pretty good but it won't idle very well, more like hunting up and down due to some adjustment with the governor sytem/linkage I think.

Also bought a used Stihl MS290 for $250. It ran and cut wood when I looked at it and bought it. But when I got it home and tried to used it on some real wood, it barely cut and the oiling system wasn't functioning. Disassembled the clutch to discover stripped out drive gear for the oil pump, completely missing brake components, case wear bumpers all worn down or missing, spark plug toast, filth everywhere. So I'm hoping to get it running and oiling properly and then buy a couple new chains for it and hopefully be able to cut some wood and add to my wood pile very soon.

Sounds like the saw needs a lot of work. If you want to take it someplace I highly recommend Mark at ABQ Power Equipment on 4th street.

The best place I have found for genuine Stihl parts is Ebay. I may still have a little MS310 around here somewhere. If I can find it you can have it. Pretty much the same saw as the 290. The old Stihls are great saws, but now most are made in China. I am looking at Shindaiwa for a small saw. My MS460 wears me out too quick.

That would be great to have a second saw as a backup (or primary). The MS310 and MS290 seem to always be listed together when I look for parts so it must just be some minor differences between them, maybe they are first cousins, or possibly even siblings. I'm hopeful that its big enough for cutting up firewood but small enough to not wear me out. I don't plan to be felling trees or running a logging operation. Good thing is that my trailer only holds about 1/2 cord so maybe it will fill before I'm worn out. All the parts I ordered (Amazon and Ebay) are cheap Chinese aftermarket parts but they got high ratings so I'm going to give it a shot just to keep my costs down. Hopefully I can get the 290 working well enough to serve in occasional weekend warrior duty. I'm going to try to fix it myself and if that doesn't work out, I'll be visiting a small engine place like Jon suggested. I'm new to small engine work but I do have some decent fix-it skills.

Not working on the truck in the evening. Too hot. I've been dinking on the ol' girl in the mornings.

"New" fuel injectors and fuel filter.
Spark plugs and air filter.
New OME springs in the front.
Shorter shackles in the front (-1").
Shorter shackles in the rear (-1.5").
New clutch master cylinder to match the new clutch. I have the slave too, but I'm waiting on the hose from AmToy.
New fuel pump. Replaced in the Jemez when the truck wouldn't start.

Not tonight but this weekend:

Replaced my rear OME competition something-or-other springs with Slee 4" heavy springs from Ali. The 4" heavies are about 10mm shorter than what I took off, but visually thicker and perceivably stiffer when you push on them side by side. The rear end rides higher now and feels a lot less bouncy. I was expecting the ride to get harsher unloaded, but I actually like it a lot better. I think I will probably end up adding airbags though. There's just too much weight difference from my around town load to my camping load for one set of springs to handle.

Also straightened an LCA (I guess I have to add buliding stronger LCAs to the to-do list) and finally painted my adjustable LCAs.

David - when you do the air bags, be sure to keep them separate and NOT tied together. You'll love them.

Installed the new clutch slave cylinder and the new hose. The original hose was 35 years old and it sounded like a good idea to baseline all of the clutch hydraulics at the same time.

I finally got around to painting (repainting) the boneyard fender I bought awhile back. It's now on.

Also, installed a new OEM-style pitman arm which has more drop. The arm I had was a billet 3/4-drop arm that was flatter than the factory idea. I did this for two reasons. First, with the reduced lift I didn't have as much clearance between the draglink and the oil pan. On paper, x-over steering requires at least 3" of lift for this reason. Second, it decreased the angle between the draglink and the tie-rod, reducing bump steer.

I installed rear coil spacers today in my LX470. 5 pax, 2 dogs, plus drawer, fridge, roof rack and camping gear is just too much for stock AHC (automatic height control). I discovered that when I replaced the coils this spring, the axle drooped enough to pull the diff vent hose off the housing and has been open to the world. I replaced my diff oil as a result.

Unfortunately, apparently when I let the axle droop to install the spacers, something stretched, pulled, bent, i don't know, and now I have an AHC fault stuck in low height. Dammit. I love AHC but I don't know the problem. To make it worse, i can't remember my password to access my TechStream for diagnosis. :bang:

If you want me to bring my laptop by let me know. I can try to help you figure it out.

Thanks Virgil, as always! I got into TechStream last night. Plugged in and found a sensor error. After more research and having an idea what to look for, I discovered that when I drooped the axle, the link and arm of the sensor actually inverted. I flipped it back and now I just need to find the ground to fender measures so I can get proper height in neutral (it's a stinkbug at the moment).

I think you can dial in the actual PSI per corner with Techstream which sounds more exact than measuring the height measurements, no?

I've done a ton to the 4R lately. Rebuilt LCA's with whiteline bushings and Moog LBJ. Burned in All Pro cam tab gussets and Total Chaos spindle gussets. Deleted alignment cams with the Poly Performance Taco Tabs kit. New outer tie rod ends. Pretty much the whole front suspension is new or still in good shape. I've probably got around 30k on my icon setup, getting close to needing a rebuild. Any local recommendations so I don't have to ship them out when the time comes?

Also installed exhaust cam gears with a 3 degree retard along with a 1/2 intake plenum spacer. Ol girl is peppier for sure! Install wasn't too bad, easier with a second set of hands though. Replaced the valve cover gaskets, plenum gasket, throttle body gasket, spark plugs and PCV valve while I was in there.

Next mods I think will be durobumps all around, rear links upper and lower, lower link mount reinforcement. I need to do the rear brakes too. Then after that eventually a roof rack and RTT.

And a link to the cam exhaust gears in case anyone with the 1GR-FE is interested.
