Nothing fancy but ordered and installed some front seat brackets for a flashlight and fire extinguisher and finally got the hi-lift and some rotopax mounted inside the roof rack basket on the FJ.

So right or wrong these are burned in

If you were not aware, this debuted June 24, 1977. I saw it opening night at what was then the Louisiana 3, and the 9 year old me would never be the same.
The rest of the evening was spent reliving the boyish amazement.
I think this and road warrior are why I like making old junk do fun 💩

@pappy this is why your pic of Dan-o wheeling my junk has extra meanings to me

It is completed. That was a new experience. The rear springs look like they're settling. Maybe I should put the spare in the back? It steers like a metal red wagon right now. Grant and I are trailering it across town to the Firestone guys who aligned Sarai's 5th gen.

I'm happy with the look of the tires. I had read some things that made me think they would look too small, but I think they look fine. Either way, we are swapping these black wheels and tires onto the 5th gen in approximately 10 months after those all seasons are finished. They're looking pretty meager right now, and I would be surprised if they last that long in this heat.

It gives me a chance do the overland rig's wheels and tires differently. I'm thinking about a negative offset and a lower profile. I'm very happy with the Yokohama G003s, and I might buy them again. The question is, do I go to 285/70/R17? I know what Ali says :censor: 🤣

Tomorrow morning's project. "New" fuel injectors. Ain't they pretty. They came with all new rings, but I swapped them out for Toyota rubber. Rebuilt by RC Engineering.

As I suspected. Leaking injectors. Lower runners on #1 and #2 had ponding fuel.

I hate to think what kinda messes I have. Do you know how many miles?
Yes. I had the same issue back in 2011. It was real bad and I couldn't get the truck running before a Baja trip with Mikie. I ended up taking the FJ40. I sourced rebuilt injectors when I came home. I have around 106K miles on these injectors.

The injectors I pulled out in 2011 have been sitting in my stash. Those are the parts I had rebuilt and installed today. Of the four, three came back leaking on the report.

I test injectors by slipping a piece of tubing over the end of them and hooking them up directly to a fuel pump. Just run the pump for a few seconds in a can of gas and you will know if they leak. Then I have a little cheap fuel injector tool that fires the injector that I hook up to a battery. You can then see the spray pattern.

To clean them I just hook the little activator to pulse and run them in a little ultrasonic cleaner with Simple Green for 15 minutes each. No fuel of course. I also run some gas with a bottle of Techron in it through them.

I test the fuel output by letting them spray into a graduated cylinder for a set amount of time and then for good measure by pulsing them manually say 20 times. I pretty much just look for the most consistent measurements.

I did this to my LX 50,000 miles ago and my Trans Am right before the transmission blew out again. I didn't notice much of a difference on the LX, but there was a difference in the LS1.

I think I will just give RC Engineering $25/injector to overhaul them every now and then.

I am easily entertained and don't get out much. Also like to try everything myself at least once.

They also do more than just clean them.

Took the 4R out to the Jemez for a field test of the new injectors. It's nice to have a smooth running engine again.
