Riding better? Less clunkier?
I’ll assume that was directed at me. I wouldn’t say it was clunking per say, it was just really rough over any bumps or road imperfections, like super stiff. Had tons of body roll also since I removed the swaybar. It’s a lot smoother now, soaks up the road much better and less body roll. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade.

yes, it was! I forget sometimes that this is all discrete replies in time. I'm using your reporting as fodder to finally convince myself to get my 6 year old Kings rebuilt or replaced. As I get older, I loathe spending time under vehicles.

Kicked off Annual Pumpkin Snorkel Season early this year

Where are you located? I’m in Rio Rancho and could do them for cheap if you don’t want to do it yourself. They’re all essentially the same except for the actual seal kits and oil. PM me if you like.

I'm in Denver these days. I was recommended a shop east of C. Springs that can do them same day if all parts are in house. I just need to call ahead and then get the FJ up on jackstands and pull them. Have I mentioned I really don't enjoy working on vehicles like I used to...

Rebuilt my Icon coilovers. Overall not terrible, just time consuming and can get messy if you’re careless. Converted to extended travel and installed 14” 700lb springs. Rides loads better than before!

Nice job dude! On your bench, I didn't see a bottle of Nitrogen and the pressure gauge kit so I'm curious how you pumped up the shocks back up to 250psi. You must've had to release the N2 in order to replace the O rings and the oil, yes?

tonight i worked on coping with the Stress and feeling of being overwhelmed as a first time home buyer... Bathtub Row beer helped a little bit
I've had much worse buyer's remorse over cars and motorcycles than from buying a house, which seems goofy when you think about the cost/commitment comparison of the two.

Hey, you’re right I don’t have a setup yet. I had a motorcycle shop do it.

Smart! I have this setup if anyone needs to use it.

I haven't gotten to buyers remorse yet, I'm still in "this state is garbage for affordable homes in safe areas in or anywhere near Los Alamos" mode. Next to nothing available between $200-$300 that is south of Cochiti.. but this if for a whole other thread

The recent rain and weather changes made me decide I better start making progress before it’s too cold, still waiting on parts from spc and Toyota to do the control arms and lower ball joints but the tundra 6112s are on. Halfway through doing the rears with junkyard score ome 906 and 5100s. The tundra 6112s surprised me after hearing Billys tended to be too soft just driving the car it felt super sporty and planted but wasn’t too stiff over potholes and bumps.

Replaced the driver front wheel bearing on the '05 4R with 230K miles on it. Sound I was hearing when driving went away. Also discovered the rubber boots protecting the ball joints on the sway bar links were deteriorating so I replaced the links with new ones too (not shown in photos). Sorry about not great photos showing the new bearing/hub installed. I was focused on the job, not the photo documentation.

What is the spring rate up front, do you know? I have the 6112s on my 4th gen with 600# Bilstein springs but after the bumper+winch went on, the ride quality suffered. As soon as the 700# springs from Kings went on, the ride improved by a ton.

If you're going to the monthly breakfast in two weeks, my daughter and I'd love to check out the ride quality. She has a '97 3rd gen, may even be the same color as yours!

650 springs. I’m going to try to make it to the breakfast, you can drive it if I do. hopefully will be able to get it aligned and get tires done before then but still waiting on parts. Need to make a decision on wheels soon, the 16 vs 17 tire load rating thing is really driving me nuts also having a heck of a time finding a 17 in specs I like so might have to compromise on width and get some scratch and dent 17x8.5 methods I found, or just throw it all out the window and get some Hutchison dot legal beadlocks at 50lbs a wheel

worked on a 2day hangover from Ullr Fest... rookie mistake not eating before drinky drinky

Worked on refreshing my $50 Spc arms, removing the old bushings was a pain and got rubber dust everywhere, I tried to contain it in the cardboard box for easy clean up. Didn’t work.

Wire wheeled surface rust and cleaned them up

Painted them with upol raptor enamel then went for a little drive in the jeep

Came back to find that they still aren’t dry and the paint will scratch off with your finger nail, not too happy but it’s too cold to repaint them today so stuck waiting on warmer weather

Also need to find a press to put the new xaxis bushings in when I figure out the paint
