I blasted through the big to-do list I posted a few days ago.. and went camping at Salton Sea with my gf! She even fell asleep with the small block rattling along at 3000RPM. Impressive.

That's a heck of alot of hood ventilation, how's it working for ya, can you put any wait on the hood at all?

That's a lot of vents...

Share some closeup shots of your hood inside and out.

I think this thread would prefer pics of the girlfriend over pics of the hood. Just saying...

Works great. Coolant temps won't budge in 100+ F ambient. I can sit on the hood just fine but I really have no reason to put weight on it.

Downside is rain getting the engine bay dirty, and the risk of getting the optispark wet (obv not a problem for 3FE/1FZ guys). There's some hood flex at highway speeds too.

I plan on building some drip rails to hang below the vents and tack welding the hood surface to the frame underneath.

Got it running again :bounce:

Had to drain the entire tank of gas after trying partial drains after the water should have settled and fuel treatments. Lots of cranking to get the final crap out of the line and some very poor running later it purrs like it used to....and has a full tank of premium now.

Had to do an oil change too as water from the crap got into it via the cylinders and was making a milkshake of my 100 mile old oil change :bang:. Surprised that much got into the oil.

Dropped of the list of expenses and receipts at the station, claims settled within a week the owner says.

Got to rescue a stuck Subaru Forester up in the Olympics here. Was parked down by Highway 101 in Quilcene WA, helping a friend unload his built 1980 Toyota pickup. Guy walks over and asks if I know of any offroad recovery places nearby. Talked a bit and decided to drive the couple up in my cruiser. Ended up being a fun trip, I got to put all 4 chains on, and get some use out of my new ComeUp winch. Unfortunately I didn't think to take pictures during the actual recovery. It wasn't too bad, he just slid off into some deep powder and couldn't get back on the road.
I did get a sunset shot on the way out:

Did some light-duty meddling in the garage.

I know a BMW R100GS Paris Dakar 9 gallon tank when I see one. In the background....looking like a bad ass and everthing. Had a few of those myself and an 81 g/s with a PD metal tank. Rode my last one to Prudhoe Bay. Started in Pensacola Florida.

I keep the same handle on Advrider. :flipoff2:

@TEXASYETI you guessed correctly. will admit the PD is my first love - I've had it since '97. have taken her many places, though not yet from FL to Prudhoe Bay, that's impressive. '81 is a keeper I hope you still have it

I am PDNY on Advrider, but I've been absent since acquiring my second love : )

happy trails

edit: found a photo of the PD with the 80 to make this 80-Series Tech compliant ; )

Pre-body lift
Post-body lift and Snowmeggadon in Portland which rarely happens.

I couldn't replace the ds front mount because the bolt was seized inside the rubber bushing thingy. 9 out of 10 complete. Will this cause any problems? I just left it in without a nut on it. (insert joke here). :) I will eventually replace it.

How bad do these look? Kinda dry to me.

New MTRs arrive manana! Oh, also removed the low hanging tow hitch and installed some LEDs inside.

Also, just tried out the 2nd gear start in the ice. Drove around a bunch of cars that couldn't make it up a little icy hill. Love this truck so far!

Also played with my Puma compressor. It struggles a bit with the impact, works well for airing up and other smaller stuff. I need to sort out the plumbing and plan to connect it to my rear airbags with a regulator, but happy with it for now. Also mounted a Cobra 1500 watt power inverter next to it that will run off the same 4 gauge line.

If you are using the cheapie air fittings you might consider the Milton V fittings...more than worth the $$

I get them through northern tool.

Had to have a conversation with Lexie about hiking her skirt.
