That's a good hubby!!
I love the fact that you can order this bumper on Amazon and get Free Prime shipping!
I wonder if they would still ship a giant bumper to Hawaii for free?

Not off to an epic start....has been running fine as always, filled up with gas and left, lack of power, stumble, lowering idle, no accelerator response, lowering idle and more stumble, dead in the road. AAA to the rescue so I can work on it at home, actually made it up the driveway.

Fortunately I was 1 mile from the house and not on the 400+ mile trip tomorrow....digging for the fuel pump relay currently but also noticed a small coolant leak at the heater control valve. FAWK, I'll be in the other car it seems.

Perhaps your 80 was embarrassed that you dressed it up like a reindeer? It was shame.

But seriously, have you checked all of your vacuum lines?

That sucks!

Santa brought the beast a new set of shoes! Wrangler Duratrac 33's. Fantastic ride, great grip on the trail and they look badass!

Vac lines seem fine and the red nose is unrelated :flipoff2:

Sounds like bad gas. Looks like it's been wet there. You might have water in the fuel.

Yeah, the cause/result of filling up and 100 yards later dead in the road does stick out in the diagnostics....not sure of a good way to drain out 25 gal of fuel though.

That sucks!

A bit yes.

Cranks fine, need to check spark. EFI relays test fine and same no-start condition when replaced with good spares. Fuseable links are not blown and look good. Will start a new thread.

I would connect a hose to a fuel line and jumper the fuel pump to get most of it. Once it stops spitting out fuel you should be able to fill the tank with clean gas. It will run rough till it gets that clean gas in the fuel lines. Then it will be back to normal again. (Ask me how I know[emoji6]).

There is also a convenient drain on the bottom of the fuel tank that should get more of the water at the bottom. I just got a few buckets from my least-detested bigbox hardware store and I now have parts cleaning solvent for years.

If possible try and get a new gasket for it.. mine was pretty dry when I pulled the plug. The currently installed one isn't 20 years old anymore, but I still keep a couple spares since they don't take up any room and are very cheap.

Yes, I have been thinking of draining out some to check, just don't have time today to mess with it before I leave town. Will have to get a gasket too.

Couldn't a person dump some stabil or sea foam in the gas tank to try to dry up the water? I mean, I know those things are frowned upon in Mud but I might've done it once or twice in the past 23 years and my motor hasn't blown up.

Personally my thinking is if whatever is in the fuel is bad enough to make the truck run so terribly, I wouldn't want it going through the fuel pump, rail, regulator, injectors, and potentially contaminating the O2 sensors. Even if these products can "dry" it out.. These engines are reliable, for sure, but those parts are all relatively expensive. I consider the wasted tank of fuel and time/buckets an investment in keeping that stuff working properly.

Igniter wire to the distributor fried in half. Mine crapped out three hours from home at night in the middle of nowhere. Just gassed up and had the same symptoms.

Pulled the front off the truck to clean mud out of the radiator. It was pretty packed, as was the AC condenser and the trans cooler. Judging by the fragile nature of the fins, I suspect this is the original rad. No pressure washer was used, just the garden hose. Shockingly there is no coolant leak. Regardless, I'll be ordering a new rad tonight!
