IMO since the FP pumps from the bottom you wouldn't need to pump out 20 gallons just one gallon and let it stand in glas jars for a few minutes. If there is water enough to cause that kind of problem then it will appear on the bottom of the glass jars.

Good point.

Thing is, the baffle/sump/tube setup inside the tank will prevent you being able to pump out all of the water.. you'd likely still have to drain at least a little fuel from the plug.

Power steering pump rebuild/battery cables extended and new filler plate installed

Definitely fuel related...drained about a gallon out of the plug, poured a small bit out in the driveway and it won't even burn , it sort of started to smell like gas again after a while of draining, but not strong. Ahh well, good times ahead after the first of the year.

Make the fuel station pay for the fix. Also, call them & let them know about the situation now & keep your receipt!

Sounds like bad gas, try a bottle of fuel treatment. I would try the water treatment fuel additive and some octane booster. OR, drain most of it out and get some premium gas from a reputable station.

Interestingly, I went for a bike ride after being fed up with the cruiser this afternoon, and stopped by to chat with the owner who wasn't there as I hit the rails to trails route, and another car (4 runner) was dead at the pump. The lackie didn't want to do anything about not selling gas saying lots of people had filled up and no breakdowns and insisted the second car had issues when it came in.

I'm thinking they owe me a tank of super (from somewhere else) at least.

Yeah, I'm going to dump a can of sea foam in the tank while I'm out of town. I'm ok with sea foam in moderation, it cleans out my 2-cycle stuff well.

Were it mine I'd let it settle and sump it again before adding a treatment. Also, not to start the whole seafoam debate but in this case I would choose one of the water removers which I think is really alcohol but I'm not sure about that.

The LX had a BIG week!
1. Had the front end rebuilt (Toyota seals and gaskets, Crus. Outfitters Japanese bearings, Toyota TREs) Thanks again, Mel Lowe and Bernie!
2. Installed OME "stock height" springs and steering stabilizer and Toyota shocks

did you gain any height?

how many miles on your rig?

I'll be doing the same thing soon.

Excellent idea! Thanks for a good common sense reminder. I'll check the fuel additive isle, I've never had such a problem so it's time to learn.

Time for a water separator.

The OMEs gave me about 1-1.5". Just enough to be noticeable if you know what to look for. I bought it with 151k, has 162k now. It rides like a new truck now, just need new tires.
