What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

I finally got around to changing out my fusible link on my 92 3FE. It wasn't bad but I wanted to replace it because new is cool. Anyway, I go to do it and decide I'm going to figure out why the stereo installer installed an 80amp inline fuse on my Positive+ battery terminal 10+ years ago. The fusible link has three wires. Two go to the "little black box" and one goes to the grey male connector in the wiring harness. Well, the stereo installer hacked this to hell. The two wires go to the "little black box" but the 80amp inline fuse is spliced in to the wire where the grey male connector USED TO BE. Ugh!

And yes, I'm aware that it has been this way for 10+ years and I haven't done anything about it. :deadhorse:

Anyone have any ideas if there is a part number just for this specific connector?

Pics of the fusible link.

That is really my kind of off-roading. Maybe trail riding is a better description.
Yep that is more the Bride and I's interest.

That pink fusible link would've burned up long before the 80 amp fuse did! Dumbass installer.

I know. I'm concerned that he did it to hide something... UGH

Flushed power steering fluid more with synthetic AFT, jacked the from up to help flush faster and discovered my front driver side bearing was loose. The con washers has seen better days and 4 of them took a lot of hammering before they decide to come out. Then I discovered that my front wheel bearing is crunchy!!!!!

Fortunately it's only the outer bearing since I don't have another inner deal. Then I realize I landed out both of my inner bearings to other mudders.

Not quite my day. Hopefully I can source an outer bearing and save the beast the shame of resting on a jack stand on my drive way. Hope association nazis don't see it. Doh!

Changed the oil, FSM through me off but I think I'm getting it now. Yeah, the rake, ugh...

You know better! Next time park it at nlx's and use his HF tools.

Started installing My sons rear bumper tire carrier. Didn't quite get it done, 103 degrees put a slow down on my motivation. My son works on the north slope in Alaska, so I work on his junk while he's at work. Still need to paint the Tire carrier side and install it. His next project is front/rear 4.88 gears, with full front and rear axle rebuilds. Followed by homemade sliders and 3/4 length roof rack.

Is that a custom bumper?

JK Customs bumper I bought used off Yohavos, He's building an FZJ80 Ute and didn't need the bumper. I will eventually build a similar one for My wife's 80. It's on the list with about a million other projects

When I change the oil I don't look at the FSM. I only take out one bolt, not the whole front end.
Put that book aside. Maybe you were at a different chapter, which also included an oil change. Just saying.

I'm doing a front axle service and trying to separate my birfs from the inner axles. I need to clean and repack everything but I can't get them split...

I've tried the pvc pipe bang method, blew that out and switched to steel. It's not coming undone in two hits like all the videos I've seen. Working on a 91
