My recent Moab trip, I average~ 225miles when the light comes on.
For reference, 3 adults + a dog, fully loaded - 3FE on 37s...529, part time, 3rd gear lockup, etc.
I can get 300 miles out of a tank pretty consistently when I'm doing highway miles. 33s with a 1.75" lift and 300K+ miles. 1997 Collector's Edition. I never go over 70mph....but it can easily.

Never go over 70… that would take me forever to get to the mountain trails which are 90-120 minutes north of mostly highway driving… so, mostly NOT under 70 on the highway. Between that and 35s and 2.5” … whopping 10mpg and I always fill up before my trip odometer reads 200-miles because it is off between 10-20%. :)

Mine ended up surviving two trips pulling a trailer loaded with furniture and appliances across 255mi and 2 mtn passes. But boy howdy with 35s does it ever feel tired. Kept an eye on coolant temps and fuel trims the whole time. It must be decently healthy because at all load ranges within the map it seems to be within 4% of 0 trim. It's just gutless, I let it eat on the passes watching to see what it would do. 206 to 210 degrees most of the time under heavy load and a brief moment of 217 but it never ran away. As soon as I go back to cruising on flat ground it settles right back at 195 and mostly just stays there. This is far from my first time towing with it and far from my first time pushing it hard, towed plenty at or above 6k lbs when I was in Arizona but my first time watching it do its thing with the TOYOBD scan tool.

Getting my rebuild harness adjusted and I found that one of the wires pulled out of a connector for one of the fuel injectors. I extended the wires so it is not in danger pulling the wire out again and got everything re-installed. Also, put the last coat of the clear coat on the valve cover. I don’t think it turned out too bad for a rattle can job and my first attempt at something like this. Last, I got the alternator and distributor back in as well.

This thing needs a turbo 😁

Lose the scan!! haha. Ignorance is bliss. It might be slow but those temps are completely normal and what should be expected. It cools down when needed after heating up in those tougher conditions.

We are now, officially, triple locked. Little test drive this morning. No weird sounds or issues!

Caveat-YUKON ZIP SOLENOID PORTS ARE NOT SWAPPABLE LIKE ARB.

Who makes that aux beam switch panel holder? I assume it goes into the ash tray hole?

Put her to work today. Picked up my very heavy sailboat from my buddy’s barn where I store it 25 miles from home. Brought it home for some spring cleaning and to install some new equipment and lines.

Probably would upgrade the transmission to the A750 before a turbo since this is more of a trail rig, but certainly tempted by a turbo!
Ya, I'm thinking the same thing.
