Princess Auto has these lovely USB power plugs in the "Surplus" section for like $7 each. They have a significant length cord and a cap that fits over the usb plug to keep dirt and crap out when you're not using it.

Installed... I even used nice black trim bolts to match. :meh:

Those are really nice, I'm hoping my local Princess has the same stock.

They only seem to carry a couple of them at a time. They're in the "Surplus" section with the crappy chrome discounted fog lights etc. I saw them one day, put it off and went back a few weeks later, they were gone. Fortunately they seem to restock them, as a couple days ago they had more and so I snagged them! :D

Looks like you can order them online too! http://www.princessauto.com/pal/pro...ous-Automotive/Weather-Proof-USB-Power-Outlet

I rolled over 100,000kms yesterday, only took 21 years! Tonight I'm changing the timing belt, the dash light is making me crazy already, lol.

You got a deal. I see those for $25+ online.

Any idea if Princess Auto has a US equivalent?

Would double check but thought off the top of my head the iPad needed 2A

I have heard the same.
I went with the Blue Sea #1016 for the higher rating.
I do like the way the burnsmoto mount

That's pretty slick Phil. I went with the ones above because they were super cheap, available immediately, and I don't have an iPad to charge :hillbilly:

My GPS tablet has it's own power supply, a regulated 12.0v buck/boost converter that outputs 4 amp. I'll be using these little USB chargers mostly for cell phones and charging my GMRS (FRS) handheld radios.

Funny you mention Moto. On the back of the plastic container of the ones I bought, it says *Is not compatible with Motorola devices, which besides the fact that it's technically inaccurate, I know for a fact it DOES. I charge my Motorola Atrix (dual core 1ghz smart phone) just fine ;)

Perhaps the company had a disagreement with Mr Moto. Which I would totally understand. Thanks Moto for locking my bootloader on my Atrix so I had to hack it before I could install Cyanogenmod or gain root. :flipoff2:

Questions Ian,

1- Did you get your '81 new?
2- WTH have you been doing?!

That rig must be in good shape...

Ouch. Not sure if they do, but they will ship to a USA address for $15. I suppose if a few of you guys ordered them in a group, you could make it worth while!

I think I am going to order 4 for myself, if someone wanted to order some we could go in together? If anyone is interested PM me and I will try and order Monday.

I don't like how big it is, if I was going to get something like that I would get the the Blue Sea ones...

still might, but for now I like the smaller connecters.

I picked it up in early June, so in ~ 3 months I'm responsible for 10% of the use this vehicle has seen! It is in very nice shape, I'm very happy with it, shout out to Mark @ BraveAuto for finding it for me!

I got the timing belt changed last night, aside from the tensioner spring which I struggled with a bit, a very easy job.

I also swung by Princess Auto and picked up a couple of those USB things that Asutherland found.

What he said ... great pickup ....
