It was purchased 7/29/2020 and was $343.86 plus $32.57 shipping for a total of $376.43 from McGeorge Toyota.

That same part is $380.08 today from McGeorge. (plus shipping)

For the price of replacement U-joints, then the time I would need to spend swapping them, it is cheaper in the long run for me to replace the entire shaft. I am considering selling my old DS to those folks that need trail spares. My old one would certainly work for a trail spare, just not for my DD that I rely heavily on my truck. The U-joints are not even loose in the old shaft. I cleaned it up in the parts washer and will reassemble and grease it before I "place it in storage".
Man, that's still a smoking deal. I replaced 1 joint and had my shaft balanced. That was ~$220.

I think I spent less than $100 to replace my u-joints. I have never had a driveshaft balanced after doing u-joints and I've never had a problem.

In this area a new custom DS runs between $300 and $500 for a steel DS depending on length and diameter.

For my DD, I would only buy the Matsuba or Toyota U-joints, then take the time to swap them. Since EVERYTHING I touch takes me far longer than it should, buying a complete assembly makes it smarter for me to do, even if it sits in my garage for 3 years before I get the time to do it.

My swap started as an expected 2 hours. Then I found the rounded bolt heads. Instantly it went to an expected 6 hours, not including my time to go order the parts from local dealership, then go back and pick them up later.

Of course, when I got the DS off, I could see just how bad the rear pinion seal was leaking, so I decided while I'm in there...... and that added another 3 hours. Not to mention the additional 6 hours I spent searching for the damn parts I knew I already own....

So, all in all it ended up being a two full day project because of not being able to find parts, then working in the heat in the sun in my driveway with 87% humidity.

My wife was mad at me for taking so long, I was exhausted, but I got it done and now I am much happier that I have the DS replaced so it has less vibration and clunkiness while on the road.

Getting ready to travel again next week.

I don't get mine balanced every time, but if they've been dragged over rocks I spend the extra to make sure they're still in spec.

And I agree with @BILT4ME - Only Matsuba or Toyota joints in my regular shafts, Koyo's in my DCs.

Supercharged Tundo workin.

The LC is doing great but ordered another powered subwoofer for it as the first one I got didn't fit under the seat. The Infinity Mini fit great BTW

I did get to work on the Alltrac this weekend. Made some major progress and it's a clutch master cylinder from being on the road again. Stoked to rip through 5 gears again. Haven't had a manual car in 5 or 6 years and I'm dying to drive it.

Bought a bumper with fender tubes and side steps. To be installed at a later date.

Then, after sitting in the driveway for over a year and getting warmed up, took it out on a couple of bumpy roads. Visited the Nude Pool in Desert Hot Springs
and evidently lost a previously damaged fender flare.

Then headed out Berdoo Canyon to Geology Tour in Joshua Tree.

Is that a TJM bumper connected to a jungle gym?
You got a watch those big jackrabbits!
It looks like a TJM and its stout, but no label. I have no idea what the steps are going to be like, but they have a cat cover on the passenger side. But, I will need the bumper in place to hit one of the jack rabbits without intense damage. ;)

Bell Lexus in North Scottsdale AZ has been a great place to shop. They presently list the oem driveshaft 37110-60520 for $349.46. Shipping is VERY reasonable.
Great pricing, great customer service and fast turn-around. First ordered from them on Amazon and now just order direct.
Really happy with them.

I just checked McGeorge again and it states "ON BACKORDER WITH NO ETA"

I’ve jumped up some big jackrabbits while duck hunting. It’s startling; they’re as big as coyotes!

I was camping one night and saw a jackrabbit that was giant and I think it was diseased because it had no hair. It came hopping right by our camp and we could see it in the firelight. I thought for sure it was a legit chupacabbra so I grabbed the shotty and gave it a lead smackdown. Upon inspection I realized it was just a hairless hare 🤣

All of us that turn our own wrenches don't usually enlist the help of others, therefore, we tend to invent contraptions to get things done.
...Ring a bell?
yup...
made a thingamajig w scrap parts
1st pic is mockup on spare engine on stand but actual job had tool arm rest on short 4x4 wood block (due to positioning) on top of frame rail
used one 40" long 3/4" breaker bar with 3/4" drive socket on crank bolt

Nice! That was the same experience I had. It startled me and I swung around and did a move-mount-shoot sporting clays move.

Tore mine up a year ago and it was closer to $450
The reason I asked, I am on the ropes about doing another Tom Woods driveshaft. But if you paid 450 the Tom Woods isn't too much more and is double cardan.
