I have a bad (good?) habit of keeping the old stuff as spares if it’s still functional. Can you confirm P/N on these? Keep seeing two diff ones for each
Congratulations.
Went out with the Washington Offroad Recovery Network (WORN) on Friday to rescue a broken Tundra up a FS road. Took about 3 hours total to extract him from the ditch, remove the broken components, fit a ski and slide him down the mountain. Great group of guys - If you're in WA State I highly recommend you join the WORN Facebook group. If you're ever epically stuck and can't get out, they'll come and rescue you with their volunteers.
Tundra was on 37s. Ended up getting slingshotted sideways into the ditch pulling a buddy out. When his group tried to pull the Tundra out backwards, the wheel in the ditch wrenched against the hill, snapped the lower control arm and broke the axle. We removed the LCA, broken axle, steering heim and brakes. Strapped a 4x6 under what was left of the lower ball joint and dragged him down the mountain. The whole set up worked pretty well.

Yeah, these suckers are a labor of love. I look at what equivalent money would buy in a built jeep/ tundra/ whatever and sometimes question my sanity buying an old rig that needs all kinds of stuff replaced that I wouldn't even think about on a newer vehicle. Not to mention you can actually find stuff for newer vehicles much more easily.I'm going to leave this here....

I'm invested now though. I'd get maybe $0.30 on the dollar for what I have invested if I sell it. I think I actually need to get some more space and build a trail rig that I won't feel bad rubbing on trees or snapping parts and keep the 80 for more touring and light off roading.
Here's hoping your replacement trans is a warranty fix.A labor of love and 2 transmissions in 3 weeks aren't the same thing. I fully understand a labor of love. I've daily driven a 74 bronco and a 66 f100. I get upkeep. This is different.
This was bought knowing all the big issues were addressed and I should have a reliable daily driver that only needed minor repairs and good maintenance to keep it running. I've had it 7 weeks and it's spent almost half that in the shop.
And I understand being invested. I have about $60k wrapped up in my lightning. I could get low 20s if I sold it.
