After troubleshooting code 25 (lean air), I wrestled the exhaust manifold off and watched the donut gaskets crumble to dust, the manifold gaskets were shot too. After looking the manifold over, it wasn’t cracked, but pretty warped. I used it as an excuse to get with Dugan over at ACC Toyota. I’m pretty pleased.View attachment 2471343
Wow, looks great. I need to do my whole exhaust soon. Can you share the link of the exact headers you got?
Sure thing. Just got it in the mail yesterday. It’s all stainless, and bolts right up to where the stock manifold would, even uses the same OEM gasket (That ACC even supplied!). It does however ditch the Toyota donut gaskets for the down pipe and instead uses a universal gasket like these. Apparently you can get these at any auto parts store.

View attachment 2471484The only thing I had to do for fitment was remove the bracket for a brake line under the passenger side wheel well. So far it doesn’t seem to effect it any. ACC did the same.

As for numbers/dyno, I don’t/won’t have any of that info. Sorry. ACC claims it gains 17HP, I’ll go with that. This is my wife’s daily, so it was more about making it more reliable and getting rid of rust.
Thanks for sharing man. I gotta do my whole exhaust and I'm ignorant with this stuff.

Knuckles(one knuckle stud too), bearings, pads and rotors with a 5 year old. Let’s just say we used our fair share of shop towels and there was no lack of little greasy fingerprints. At least she can wrench better than most. Thanks to MUDRAK for hookup on parts and advice!

Its high, really high. They aren’t loud at all however. If you have a 93-94 like I do, you need an exhaust shop to weld In an extra O2 sensor bung. You can ask ACC if they do an entire exhaust, I believe they do. If not, @OTRAMM makes a complete stainless exhaust.

About two weeks ago, had some training in the desert, and the unit decided to give us two weeks of quarantine when we returned. So I ordered some things and had some other stuff in the garage that i wanted to do/install. Ironman had a sale going on for their recovery points so I got them

Also picked up a few things from DeltaVS. Broke one of the old drop bracket bolts in the frame, so that too a lot longer than it should :bang:

I was looking for a valve cover to paint. Ended up buying two from two different MUD members. One of them wasn't in the best shape, so I focused on the other. Wanted to paint one wrinkle black and the other gun metal. Since I couldn't decide, I just did the under coats wrinkle and top coats gun metal.

Somewhere along the line, the plug to one of the knock sensors disappeared. I'm sure it was from the PO, but it was jerry rigged in a way that Ive never noticed. Well i knocked it loose, but made a post on MUD and members helped identify the parts and I purchased at the dealership.

With the knock sensor being unplugged, something happened with the PHH. . it started to leak. I wanted to change this anyway, so month ago I bought one from Wit's End. Ended up just bypassing the system.

The little hose is a vacuum from under the manifold. Saw it was cracked and hard while replacing the spark plugs.

In other preparations for the Turbo I purchased from Wits End, I bought the Block Drain upgrade. Installed when I drained the coolant for the bypass. But on this sensitive subject of the turbo. .has their been any more news? I know i should be really close in line to receiving mine. Any who

Changed the brake and used the Speedy Bleed for the first time. Super easy.

Did some driving to ensure the breaks were good, and started to hear some "clunking" when I turn. Got home, inspected and the boots on the tie rods ends have holes. Ordered the Three Five tie rods from Cruiser Outfitters, and waiting for tie rod/drag link from Slee (Tried just replacing them but they are so old and I don't have all the proper tools to break loose the ends from the sleeves. Pro tip: cheaper to buy all new stuff than take it to a shop)

Sitting at home for another few days and being impatient, I did a little more painting.

Thank you much. If its not one thing, its another. Im still "clunking around" until the drag links are delivered. Should be here by the weekend.

It's certainly a love hate relationship. My newly installed rebuilt steering gear box broke after a week of use. Just had a new one installed today. It's part of the journey ;). Good luck to you and thanks for your service.

Finished my lift. But after I installed the caster plates I know have the steering arm touching the radius arms. It drives great though. However I have an occasional driveshaft vibe on deceleration (could be the steering arms(. Exploring options to remove some of the caster. Thinking I'll trade a perfect caster for better driveshaft angle and no rub. Also looking at Manafre drop brackets for the radius arms or aftermarket arms. May just remove the plates for now. The journey continues.

The arms can be ground slightly for some clearance. You also need to adjust the rotation of your tie rod clamps. They will hit the arms at full turn. Note your driver side....

Also, your diff breather is disconnected fyi...
