Jinxed myself talking about transmission drain and fills in another thread. Went to pull my drain plug and it backed off a little then all it did was spin in place. Guess I need to have my torque wrench recalibrated.
Took a little creativity to get the plug out. Needed a third hand to put pressure on the drain plug while I backed it out. Ball joint tool worked perfectly for this.
Guess it’s time to clean the pan and magnets and replace the filter.
I have hydro assist on foo, and I am commenting based on Toyota axles and 35 inch tires, before I put the Volvos and 40 inch on .... biggest change is you have no road feel... feels just like driving a tractor. My 14-year-old son drove for the first time on the highway with the set up. Got some flack from the other local members @CrowleyFJ40 ... however their comment was it was if you can drive on the highway with Hydro assist without any antirollbars you’re probably gonna do OK in a normal car.

I forgot about your portals. Maybe I can do a walkaround next time I roll through Ks love to get that rig on film man. this is a mud member right here.
What I can say is the steering is heavier at all times ( harder to turn even on the street ) If you try to turn to fast at a idle the pump will stall a Bit. Turning on the AC helps buy bumping up the idle. I can't say that I have the no road feel like 2fpower is talking about it just feel a little heavier to me. That being said I mostly trailer my Reg to the trails, but I have driven it to local trails plenty of times I have no issues with the hydro on the street I run down the highway 70 MPH no problem. would I do It a gain in a heartbeat there nothing like being able to turn in the big rocks with the lockers on. It will push big rock around, I have pulled up to my buddy's Reg in the dirt and push it over a few inches with my front tire just for fun. If you have seen my posts you know I wheel my Reg hard and the Hydro just make it so much nicer when the going get tough. I'm 60 years old and can give a crap if people like my mods or not this is as straight up as I can be no sugar coating. PS I run with no sway bars ( antirollbars )

I did drill out the hole on the high pressure line port of the pump a drill bit size, and found that helped a bunch. with doing that I never had the heavy feeling or had the engine bog down. The only time I needed to put in neutral and give some idle speed was when I was on rocky trails. Note: I am speaking of when I was on 35" with a 7 plus inch ram. The Volvo portal axles only have a 5" ram and it is one finger steering. AMAZING. @RFB you always have a place to stay if you roll through town.
I have PSE Hydro assist on my Fj40, I also have a high pressure pump so it has no issues feeling heavy. It does turn slower though!
The only thing that I dont like is that it does not return to center.. it stays exactly where you leave it!

To be clear I never have to put it in neutral and now that I am used to it it never stall because I know not to try to turn fast in less I on the gas. I am running a Larger ram the most as I did not want to lose turning radius. I am running 9 x 1.5 inch ram and 37s

Birfday! The green 80’s inner axle seals were leaking, the joys of working on a rust free truck, never have I had one come apart and go back together so easily. The last one I did was on my red 62, that fought me every step of the way.
As you pointed out, the other logical solution is the tie-rod. I have bent mine before and my steering wheel not pointing straight is what led me to take a look.
Since it is to the right like that, it means the relay rod is too short... ie... may have got bent. Try lengthening the relay rod and see if that fixes it.
