Pulled the flares off today. Almost every tab was broken. I'm on the fence about the look. But it is growing in me. Bed lining it soon. Third picture is port or dealer installed bull crap on the hole location on the flares. Not tho Mr T. Standards I'll tell ya

That moment after three days of prep and masking as well as taking a day off to paint on the one day you have before the big trip and you open your box from monstaliner and find instead of sans panties green they send desert sand.

I guess I have to paint it sand now. No choice. This really sucks. View attachment 1729825View attachment 1729827

NOOOOO! Don't paint it a color you don't want! An extra day to reprep is nothing compared to at least 5 years being annoyed at the color of your favorite rig.

OMG! So pretty. Do you ever go off pavement lol?

if it helps desert sand looks killer.
Thanks. It was my second choice. I don’t know how it went from sans panties green to this. The problem is my 40 is desert tan. Now it kind of looks like I have a private militia out front.

Do your trip without paint, you will have to reprep when you get back, but if you do it a color you don't want you will have to deal with that a lot longer than 3 days.
I went ahead and painted it. I already have a desert sand 40 so now it looks like I have a militia out front. Anyway really miss the green. I thought This was very difficult, the heat blazing down didn’t help. It looks ok but I have some runs and messy parts.

Your belts are awful.

Amen.

When I was new to Cruisers I bought my 80 with the worst whirring sound. The PO swore he put new belts on it and it was just a "thing". Fast forward a couple of mud lurking years and I finally put Mr-T belts on and voila, noise gone!

I'm embarrassed to admit that, but what the heck, maybe someone else can save some face.

Well I painted it the desert tan. It looks pretty good but definitely can tell it was a home roll job. Lots of mistakes etc. I really am disappointed I didn’t get the sans panties green. I love that green and thought it was apropos since the pink panty lx now is fenderless. At least this color was my second choice but my 40 is the same color so it looks like I have a militia out front or something. Anyway. It looks ok. I would absolutely spray it if I considered doing it again.

I replaced my starter, it only took about 50 minutes. When I started it I noticed something flapping around my fan, so I turned it off to check it out. I discovered why my AC quit working, the belt was shredded and wrapped around my fan. Some before and after are attached (out of order)

Aren’t the belts supposed to be “matched” or “paired” or something?

He drove out to pavement (amazingly), then the roll back brought him to @gifu house for booger weld removal and re-weld. Not the first time this mount had been glued back on, so prep for weld was the very time consuming part.

Jesus.

The belts were done at Firestone because I had just gotten back from Colombia and didn't have any of my tools. I'll get better belts when these need to be replaced. Which with Firestone doing it, that's not going to be long.

Mostly logging trails and river trails. Never done any of the hardcore wheeling in it. Overlanding type mostly.

Yeah, ran into a bit of a blizzard. The pics don't really do it justice, it was coming down HARD and SIDEWAYS for about 30 minutes.

Blue Fan with 20K oil. The one prior was stuck engaged. When i pulled it out, i quickly found that it doesn't look anywhere close to the Aisin i am replacing it with, i.e. it was thinner about half of the Aisin. Are do originals like that?

Anyways, it feels like i got some power back, and i don't sound like a turbine everytime i take off from the stop light.

Oh and swapped out my V-belts and routed it the normal way! Damn the alternator adjuster/tensioner is a pain (didn't take off the battery tray).
