I have been working on a custom rear bumper for my truck for about a week now. Got it all finished up last night. The spare arrived today :bounce:

The goal was to have it as high clearance as possible. I cut over 4 inches of the frame rails. Then I proceeded to tuck a 2x2x1/4 steel tube under the tailgate. A Trail Tailor spindle then got mounted sideways to the center, and more 2x2 welded to that. To have a spare, and to keep it ultra high clearance I knew a swing out was out of the picture. I therefore went for the swing down. Currently it just takes a bit of muscle to rotate up and down. Eventually I plan to mount a small winch to the roof, so it'll be push button up/ down.

ExpoMax, you got a build thread around here somewhere? I'd love to check out your interior.

Spent some time on Cape Cod.

Last weekend I put a new exhaust on. So shiny. New from manifolds all the way to the tailpipe.

Any interest in selling one? I cant sew, but I can spend......

x2 on the previous posts. That is EXACTLY what I've been looking for for a while now. Are you interested in selling these?

I'll post up in a new thread in a couple days to see what everyone is interested in seeing on it and see if I can manage to actually make more. It would probably be a pretty low batch though since they take so long to make. I also need a couple weeks of use on this one to make sure it's up to standards with what it'll be used for.

Add me to the list!

Nice work  I was envisioning something similar if I ever decided to add a tire carrier to the high clearance bumper I recently built. Do you get lots of rattles and vibrations on that setup?

Mine would have a similar mounting point if I ever go that route:

Love how it came out, it's exactly like mine, just deflared mine, what paint did you use? Thanks!
Thanks! I used herculiner and failed to by the UV clear coat so we'll see how it holds up

Hybrid?? Do you have a dog?
I do have a dog, but that is more to get under the skin of some righteous Prius owner I know:lol:

Well if its a limited list, I'm first in line ;-)

I have no vibes or rattles with it. I used 2x2 1/4" tube for the main swing down and side support. Then welded several gussets to the key places. For some crazy reason I thought a 1/2" bolt would originally hold up, but I then proceeded to sheer it off. Using a big 1" bolt really helped. Also I always have the option to add another brace to the other side. Don't think I need one though. It does not budge. You rear bumper is sick! I too will soon have chopped quarter panels

If you guys are looking for roll up tool bags, check out Atlas 46. I'm confident these are the best money can buy. Still on my wish list. The guys I wheel with all have these bags and it's amazing how many tools you can fit in one.

Ran about 100km. of nasty ruff mining trails. Back to Nw Ont. Boreal forest and amazing fishing. Screws missing from dash and panel vibrates badly. Must fix had to hold it in place with left hand and drive with right only. That sucks when your rally driving behind a Sequoia, until he gave it up that is. Amazing how well the OME suspension sucks up speed bumps. Another sighting of pure black wolf cub. Must be a den v close to our camp spot

More northern Michigan for ya. Drummond Island, great day of fun and wheeling. Didn't take my 80, but took my daughter's green 96 and my sister and bil brought her (my former) white 80.
