I have been working on a custom rear bumper for my truck for about a week now. Got it all finished up last night. The spare arrived today
The goal was to have it as high clearance as possible. I cut over 4 inches of the frame rails. Then I proceeded to tuck a 2x2x1/4 steel tube under the tailgate. A Trail Tailor spindle then got mounted sideways to the center, and more 2x2 welded to that. To have a spare, and to keep it ultra high clearance I knew a swing out was out of the picture. I therefore went for the swing down. Currently it just takes a bit of muscle to rotate up and down. Eventually I plan to mount a small winch to the roof, so it'll be push button up/ down.

Love how it came out, it's exactly like mine, just deflared mine, what paint did you use? Thanks! Finally broke down and joined the two-tone club. My fender flares had a bad issue with peeling clear coat. While I had everything apart I also added some lights to help me spot stumps and rocks in the woods at night. Next up will be the Prinsu rack I just orderedView attachment 1521076View attachment 1521077View attachment 1521078
Any interest in selling one? I cant sew, but I can spend......
x2 on the previous posts. That is EXACTLY what I've been looking for for a while now. Are you interested in selling these?
Add me to the list!I'll post up in a new thread in a couple days to see what everyone is interested in seeing on it and see if I can manage to actually make more. It would probably be a pretty low batch though since they take so long to make. I also need a couple weeks of use on this one to make sure it's up to standards with what it'll be used for.
If you make them, they will come. Nice workI was envisioning something similar if I ever decided to add a tire carrier to the high clearance bumper I recently built. Do you get lots of rattles and vibrations on that setup?
Mine would have a similar mounting point if I ever go that route:
