You shouldn't do long as you check torque after every outing ;)
It was nice timing that a MUD member posted about their knuckle stud issues just before my 3000+ mile Colorado trip last year. I checked them a few times on that trek.

I've read enough posts about problems with knuckle studs that they, and cone washers are going into my spares box, which will ensure that I will never need them!:D

I ordered a full set for each 80 a few months ago after someone posted about losing a couple. Also bought 6 spare wheel studs after seeing @NLXTACY's thread about shearing his off.

Best insurance I could buy to guarantee never having an issue with mine!

Changed out damaged cooling fan blades, along with replacing a missing fan shroud. Preparing the rig for a new paint job, taking to shop this evening.

Noticed an unpleasant odor, sort of like a wet dog, coming from the interior of the 80. We had some heavy rains last week so suspected water may be leaking in. Sure enough, had wet DS carpet and the rear seatbelts were all wet???
Pulled the front carpet up and let it dry out, looks to be coming in from the lower corners of the windshield.

The wet rear seatbelts were a bit more of a mystery. After having all the interior trim pieces removed, it looked like the water was dripping in from the first hole of the small exterior trim piece below the rear sliding window.

The first hole for the trim piece tab sits directly above the internal seatbelt retractor, and it looks like that is where the water is coming in and soaking the rear seatbelts.

Everything is drying out now. But the plan to fix this is to reseal windshield gasket, then apply that same window sealer to each tab hole on the exterior trim. Sound good?

I saw you guys parked by Dewey Bridge, gave me a serious case of 80 envy!
Ah cool you were in the white hundred? Should ran with us or came and talked, I'm from junction too, we also had a 98 hilux surf diesel built up run with us he did fine on open diffs and 33s

Had big plans for maintenence on the white 80 but my daughter headed back to school so I only got a little done. Buffed it and got a wax job done, checked it over and off they went. Double bummer.

Calibrated my boost compensator and modified my aneroid rod to do that:

Aneroid rod in the mill for cutting:

Here's the rod, after cutting:

Started in with tearing the spare 1FZ-FE apart to put it in the ol 93. First step: pull plugs and look for anything suspicious. All but number 3 looked the same. Blacked out. Number three came out soaked in oil. I'm thinking the plug seal was failed and oil has been sitting in the plug tube.

How do you get the valve cover off without removing the manifold? I did it on my 93 but it keeps hitting the bottom of the intake manifold. Do I slide it out the front after lifting a hair? I suppose I should just pull the intake off as I'm going to anyway. Just wanted to get something done and didn't have time for much else.

This weekend the wheels got put on the truck, I installed the roof rack and got to the snorkel today. Very good weekend!

You just need to pull the throttle body off and it should come right off, maybe need to shift it a little, but it shouldn't be too difficult.

As a father, it's nice to know she's well protected within the Cruisers friendly confines. Good luck to her, as well as you! I've sent 2 off to higher education..... it's rough.(and expensive! Lol)
