I managed to shear the mount off the axle that secures the sway bar. The resulting loose mount then sheared off my hard brake line. And this was right before a technical decent known as "Death Row".... I had little brake pressure and proceeded to bounce down the rocks, pull E brake. Bounce down a few more a repeat. This was the trail fix.

Here are a few of the day, haven't gathered any from said obstacle yet.

Nice fix!

But curiosity makes me ask: What's with the clamp welded to the vice grip? Is that a "special" tool created for a specific purpose? Is there some story behind it?

That is exactly what happened to a friend of mines.

Haha not sure about the clamp. I can't even remember where I got those... Maybe when I was scrummaging through my step dads tool box as a kid..

That's pretty cool. A portable vise. I needed that the other day.

Went to Hollister Hills this weekend. Fun times! First time in the park. Did some Black Diamond trails that were pretty intense for my wheeling skills. We went with a group of pretty serious wheelers who went through Tank Trap (triple Black Diamond rating). That was the craziest wheeling I've seen!

Yeah, try turning your screen about 45° to the left. LOL, can't hold the camera straight.

You must have failed to notice the other two trucks in the picture. Turn the screen 45°, then what happens to the other trucks?

I brought my 80 home this weekend!!
Friday night I purchased a 96 FZJ80. Supper clean one owner, factory lockers, 188K.
I spent most of the weekend laying on the ground under it dreaming up my plans and reading on Mud

Nice pics!
It's been years since I did the Tank Trap in my 84 Yota

Great wheeling pics. Can't believe the angle that the 4runner is on without tipping!!! That driveshaft is destroyed. That must have been one crazy trail.

Almost. Ended up with a dent in rear quarter panel and almost tore off my mirror. Some of those trails aren't 80-friendly. Need a lot of articulation to avoid sending the body into the walls, and that's something these rigs don't do well out off the box!

And thanks for the feedback, glad you guys enjoy the pics :)

Sears Marine 31M Installed

Thanks to PRJCT80 write up, I installed my 31M that I purchased a couple weeks ago during the friends and family sale.

All I needed was 1" aluminum angle from Home Depot($6.95). The trimming to the battery was super easy 1:banana:.

I reused the Factory J bolt and nut.
