Used them today for my 31M

I used this thread exclusively to modify my 31M for installation.. I made my cut based on his pics...

$7 aluminum 1" angle from Home depot for the hold down bar while reusing the factory J-bolts and nuts...

Thanks PRJCT80

Glad it was useful. Install looks clean. The 31m is one awesome battery!
Thanks again.

I am contemplating putting one in primary location as well. :hhmm:

From what I've read old school thinking about using a marine
Battery as the primary starter battery no longer applies to these new gel batteries and quite few people have used them
successfully.

Do you have any pics of the connections you used to lengthen the cables. I got my new 31M Diehard in the factory spot and it fit just fine except for the tie down. My cables reached without any problem. I want to extend the cables to install a Battery Brain and it's too tall to mount on top of the battery (hood won't close). The only place to put it really in on the front of the battery and I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to extend my cables. I'm open to any advice and yes I just committed a thread jack.

You might need to trim the side fins on the battery to get a good seat depth wise. I ended up trimming mine after I got this little bump on my hood.

Mine fits just as low as the little junky battery that was there before. It seems to fit just fine. Now I'm trying to get the best/cheapest way to extend the cables.

This is the method I chose because I did not want to modify the existing electrical system.

Great write-up.

I noticed you have your gloves on in one of the pics.

I'll just note what CDan told me when I bought mine -- be careful when cutting, grinding, etc the battery tray, as it's made of some hi-tech sh*t (fiberglass or?) that will drive you nuts if you get it on your skin, in your eyes, etc. Be careful, take precautions, like the gloves, clean up afterwards.

Yes, absolutely! I actually did not grind any of it, just cut with a saw and filed. Its got fiberglass and is surprisingly fragile. I would even recommend mask if grinding this stuff. We always try and use gloves for particles or chemicals; our skin acts like a sponge...:)
