Haven't heard or felt anything. About a year ago I installed a 1-1/2" lift, brand new front OEM leaf springs and re-arched the rear leafs with an additional leaf.

Tomorrow I will check the drivers side with the wheel hard right and check the clearance to the steering arm.

Decided to give EPS a try. I did a drawing to make sure I new where to put it. Similar to Hank Tanks set up but I but it bit lower douwn on the column to help clear the defrost hose connection. I bought the kit from epowersterring. Ken is very available and answers any question one might have.

Got 90% done in a long day. Just have to bolt in the upper column section, install the steering wheel and hook up the electronics.

After putting balancing beads in some worn Wranglers rolled the old Pig to Bombay Beach on the east shore of the Salton Sea. One of the lowest points in the US, about 212 ft below sea level. It was a mission to pick up a go kart. Was way to big to fit in the 55 so pulled the wheels. Ramps were set up to the Con Fer rack with the winch line strung over the top. Up she went and away we go. 35 inch Wranglers rolled a lot better.View attachment 1392857 View attachment 1392858 View attachment 1392860

As a follow up. I thought I would show what I did with that Go Kart. A few stops around the California desert can yield some interesting items as well. A shoe tree and great looking pickup.

Enjoy,
Eric.

On this kit did you have to do any welding, fabrication of those brackets, etc. Looks like a straight forward deal.

I fully intended to document the EPS build with lots of detailed progress pictures but I fell in to the zone of concentration and didn't do a great job. The kit had everything that makes the system work. The one component that took some interesting thought was the bell shaped reducer supplied that's intended for connecting the lower column tube section to the bottom of the assist unit. I made it so that it is a definite structural connection tho the bottom tube.

When the assembly was complete the entire column was one solid component. There was no need for additional brackets to hold it in place. The original flange to firewall and the yoke at the top of the steering column are all that's needed to mount the column back in place. Nothing on the car was modified except the defroster feed hose was sliced on two sides so it could be pushed up onto the duct further.
