done.

Looks good. I hope this does not seem like I am telling you what to do... But I would straighten that cross piece above "Toyota" on your grill before painting.

silver?

How do you think on this silver? too warm<? too yellow? tried to match the ash grey, but it might be more like late model camry. It might of been the indoor lighting as well.

At least we got some paint laid down on the bumper and grilles...

Half the day spent under it looking for the oil leaks from the trans and xfer case. Then took a drive to relax some. Only to find a house out in the sticks with the following rigs parked in the yard. 3 different early 109's 1 T90 diesel a 72 suburban 3 door 4x4/ an fj40 out of New York lifted/350/soft top. Various other range rovers about the yard. And one Mini Cooper. I txt a few pics to Guam bomb then returned home to my oil leaks

Almost got in a wreck! Some lame driver in the oncoming lane turned right in front of me. Good thing those 4wheel drums were adjusted! Actually stopped pretty well, and good enough to avoid an accident. It was at night and not the first time someone did not see me and it got me thinking. The headlights on a pig are set so close together compared to other cars that maybe people think I am further away than I really am. Am I thinking about this too much or has anyone else had experiences were they were not seen at night?

Tucker,

I'm at a loss, when it comes to these new type lights. Since I don't have anything in lights, what brand are the best or are all rounds eyes from the same company.

These aren't those blue lights are they?

Thanks,

Ron

Ron,

There are all kinds of aftermarket light upgrades out there, I went with Roundeyes because they keep a stock appearance and put out more light. High Intensity Discharge (HID) is a family of lights based on Xeon gas instead of a filament. They do discharge a blueish tint (6000-8000k range), but these are the reflector type and not the projector which are brighter blue. Do some googling on HID headlights and you can read to your hearts content ;)

Bottom line, these were a couple hundred dollars and made a noticeable improvement. You can spend thousands, there are companies selling HID projectors that will fit in your stock housing. This is a pretty good read:

I got a noticeable improvement from Sylvania Performance halogen conversions. Plug and play and about $50/pair at O'Reilly. There are several degrees of brightness available with these so make certain you get the brightest. Not as good as the more expensive LEDs, etc., but a reasonable low cost alternative.

Small Victories

I found a great CEL (check engine light) for my 3FE. I had been wanting something that would fit in the blank of the center panel for my '74. Once I had that, I could build my spare center panel, complete with radio, CEL, and ground wires for the windshield squirter and cigarette lighter.

Then I could just swap the spare panel in. It seems like a PITA to get that center panel out!

I know, a pretty small victory, but simple pleasures for simple minds!
