paint and parts

Not really today, but finally got the pictures sized and loaded. Finished the grille with proper blackouts, and painted some parts. Those are OEM light guards that have been cleaned up and awaiting a nice polish.
Happy Turkey Day.

Nice job! How did you paint the grill. Tape off the letters and paint the black or ? Really looks good.

Yes, I painted the grille with the silver and clear coat, then taped off the lettering and the rest of the areas. Did the side grille blackouts also.

more parts

Had some more parts blasted and prepped for paint. The battery tray and fan shroud will get Toyota 202 black, (thanks Delancey!). The bumper corner shall be silver, and the fan will be red once again. The fuel door will match body color. Putting the rubber trim back onto the rear seat lower as well...

Consider painting the battery tray w/ bed liner - rattle can works fine. It will hold up better to the battery acid then paint.

Lowtideride, What's you're plan for the rebuild? Must be rough doing a build in the middle of winter, down there. Sweaty huh! :)
It's was cold! Lower 60s. Had a beanie and flannel on most of the day! Lol Plans.... An 80 series frame and axles. As of today it's now resting on top of its new frame (new body mounts have yet to be made).

I re-set my bearing pre-load for the 5th time today. If your interested in my whoes read my thread....

not as cool as what al "lowtideride" is up to but none the less necessary. ;)

Put my newly rebuilt alternator in...
It'd been trying to die for months, acting weird, sounding bad. Finally seized up on Saturday. Took it to the rebuild shop yesterday and picked it up today. It's a Hehr (now a Powerline company) 150 amp.
So I took it for a drive. Now my right turn dash indicator lamp stays on when the headlights are on. Right turn signal is lit when the headlights are on, so it looks brighter than the left. Left turn signal still works normally. Without the headlights on, the right turn signal now makes the left turn signal work at the same time. Emergency flashers seem to work normally. I love electrical problems...

my 55 teardown

Got the donor floor back from the sandblasting and it's now primed and in place. Roof donor is also stripped and ready to weld. Going to be a good week!

Wow! Very cool! Great time to add additions support ribs to the roof, or add a dome light mount for the rear!

And then there was one...

Trailered my "spare" Pig over to the Denver area Wednesday to its new owner. He already has the carb rebuilt and plans to pull the gas tank this weekend to get it cleaned out in the effort to fire this one up for the first time since 2000. This '76 is the most unmolested of the five I've owned while putting together the Frankencruiser, which will soon wear the 33x10.50x15 MTs and wheels I brought back with me. Now down to one Pig for the first time in about five years.
Good luck, Steve.
