What did you do to your pig today? (3 Viewers)

Removed two dead mice from inside yesterday. That counts for something, right?

More importantly I have moved back to Manitoba for work, and am living on the farm with the pig when I'm not on site. Hope to get at it once the weather warms up and have it roadworthy this summer.

Put the doors and windshield in and rolled up the back window and put it outside to make room for a 62 head gasket job. It was either the pig, the 69 camaro convert with no paint or the LV. Pig drew the short straw.

Now it's raining ice. Poor pig. Given the first time I saw her she was sitting in treeroot's back yard under a foot of snow I think she'll be ok.

Pulled the oil pan, cleaned it up and painted it, installed with new gasket and the correct matching bolts unlike what was there before :(. Also installed a new cartridge filter and realized a shortcoming of my swap, oil canister housing is right against the fire wall. I had to loosen all the brake and clutch lines on the firewall to change my filter. Installed an adapter and oil pressure sender to get my gauge working, tried to do the temp sender too but didn't have the right tap ... have one on the way. Will finish flushing the cooling system when that gets here, put in a new thermostat and better fitting lower radiator hose while I was at it ...

New plugs and plug wires....need to drive it tomorrow:clap:

New temporary paint job. I surveyed this land a few weeks ago and just wanted a good rain to come.

Spring cleaning

Redid a front main seal, picked up the radiator after a relocated spout and new core (that hurt the checkbook), and pulled the gas tank. Today's forecast calls for chunks of solidified gas, gravel and detergent. Looking forward to capping off the emissions outlets and junking the system.

Bench bled and installed brake master cylinder, started installing new Iron Man shocks until I was foiled by a stripped mounting stud :(. Threaded the stud with a M12x1.50 die ... now I need a different nut. Sometimes you just get no love ...

wish they'd never gone to the stud setup...make adapters and run eye style shocks.

Did the complete front axle service. Tore it apart again to redo the shims after finding out "leave them exactly as they come out" didn't account for the PO mistakes and the tension was off. Fixed exhaust and oil leaks. Also cleaned up a bunch of the leftover little stuff I've been meaning to get to since the body swap a couple of years ago. Front bench gets replaced with buckets later in the week. All in prep for a spring break road trip at the end of the month. The Mohave and Joshua Tree on the agenda.

yep really only about 5 weeks till those places are too hot for me, I been thinkin about Jtree myself

How did you approach the shim re-work?
Is it top shims control pre-load and bottom shims center the knuckle?
Or vice-versa...
