Oops...I left it full strength and let it sit overnight.
I've been meaning to take it back to a 3-row core...guess this is a good time.

Yea, even on brass that may be a wee bit much. On aluminum radiators in the 80's I usually go until the fluid starts looking dark/blackish. If it is just the core letting go, then think about a high density replacement core. I've had great luck with mine.

Well, this'll be about the third or fourth re-core on this radiator...I forget exactly.
This last one was a 4-core, 'cause I thought 4 must be better than 3. Tiny tubes and tiny fins. Perhaps a high-density. The spare that I put in today has much larger tubes and thicker fins. I think I like the low-density better.
I am still running a 6-banger...

Tuff break on the radiator. I usually dilute the pool juice 50% and rock it back and forth to agitate it some. I dump and flush when I see it getting good color, then do the whole cycle again. Usually don't see any color gain on the second pass. Usually I don't leave it in for more than 5-10 minutes. John

Good to know!

Drove to the grocery store without a problem, even drove back home. Put an endwrench on this little timing gear cover bolts and snugged 'em up. Pulled the gas filter element and showed it to Ige. She said it was filthy, I didn't think it was that bad. But I sprayed it with Brakleen and put it back in.
Turned my steering stops all the way in.

I got the new ARB and gears, all put back and feeling good, then realized I forgot to mount the backing plates, before I put the axles in .

Back out and done right!

And a little bling!

Think I finally fixed that pesky timing gear cover oil leak...putting the RIGHT bolts in the RIGHT holes seems to have helped.

driving out ujoint caps? sorry man, but tell your kid he's gonna have to work on that sexy pose...:flipoff2:

Technically the caps are still there :flipoff2: The best part is a guy came up and asked if I blew a Birf

Thats all he got

I took the first pic and told him to work on it.

Thats the second pic.

Hes only 17 so there is still time to fix the sexy pose

That thing is a beast

(The Pig, not your kid)

Replaced my Mudrak power steering pump mount with the Dorry pump mount (Thanks Georg). Tried mounting the York on my block...it's too tall, can't close the hood. Can't mount the alt either 'cause the battery is in the way.

I got my new alt bracket and was rearranging things, I managed to drop a birf and short side axle on my sandal clad foot. I think I broke some thing in there... Now I have a cool 30 spline mark on my foot! I'm a dumbass sometimes

I haven't done anything to the Piggie lately. However, my buddys article on a disc brake swap on my 55 is out in the October issue of 4Wheeldrive and Sport Utility;)
Dude! Now yur famous. I just picked up that copy last night. John

Rear disc brakes, fold out steps on the rear for the kids to get into the roof rack, wheel spacers... looking for power steering parts now, finally. Working too much to drive, but hope to be back home tomorrow.

Engine, transmission and t-case and radiator are out and on the floor, Iron Pig Offroad mini-truck power steering mount installed. Updating an older SBC conversion and totally starting over to accomodate a Ranger overdrive. Grinding off old motor mounts tomorrow and will then mock things up prior to installing new ones from Advance Adapters. Really interesting to find PO surprises like the adapter plate welded in...lucky I had another bellhousing. WIll also refresh clutch and install new t-case seals. Looks like it'll stretch into a two weekend job. Don't know what excites me most...power steering, the overdrive or just diving in and getting greasy.

Had a visit from Justin Robbins of Redline Cruisers who was in town. He was gracious enough to lend us a hand to get the front ARB air locker on the Iron Moose working. We pulled it out, repaired it and replaced it.

It doesn't get any better than spending a day with a good friend, my son and cruisers.

Thanks Justin. It was great to see you again!
