Repaired the door, with minor dimension error by my mistake and maybe Long Drink. But now it's still better than before.

Yesterday I changed motor oil and repaired a fuel gauge (I don't know how, but it works now) and also rear wiper works now. It was just jammed up because I haven't use it. Today I went to a test drive and damn it was nice to drive with my Cruiser after long winter! Drove about 85 kms with no problems.

Oh, some rare footage of me enjoying saturday night with the Cruiser and a beer.

I was watching a YouTube review of a 1994 KZ truck this morning (yes I was that bored 😊) and couldn’t help but notice the cup holder from Odd Iron / BH3D. 😁

Truck pulls strongly to the left when braking. I was rained out Saturday but yesterday began the job of replacing front discs/rotors and calipers.
I did the rear drums not long ago but I'll take the drums for turning since I have the whole thing out of action for a while.
I cannot accomplish nearly as much in a day as I used to say 20 years ago (young people beware).

Mobil synthetic grease seems okay but are there better options?

There is no agreement to what grease to use is best.... I use the red stuff myself and have had no issues.

I use Valvoline red.

Fitted a new wastegate actuator control solenoid...

Nestled down underneath, and in between the fuel filters...

I thought the end result turned out quite tidy...

I like the incognito look, so that it looks purdy much stock when you lift the bonnet (hood).

Boost control now handled by the Unichip.

Getting ready for the Toyota Jamboree this weekend and removed the frp top from the FT73 , hope it only rains just enough to keep the dust down 🤣

Added LED lights to the boost and pyro gauges.

Actually they are less bright than in the picture.
Here are the bulbs.
They come with one 1/8 w 1k resistors soldered to each tip.
I took them out of the socket :

and reworked the resitances location to fit my application (Westach) and added some cabling to reach the OEM connector for the comb meter lightning.

We'll see how it goes, and if its too shiny, either install a rheostat or simply move the bulbs back a litter further from the gauge face. Currently they are fully inserted.

That beer makes your head look fuzzy.

I read in some old ct20 post that all ct20s were not created equal. The early ct20s were not as efficent as the newer ct20-As.
I went out to the garage to have a look at my compressor housing the see if it had the A on it. It didn't. It didn't even say ct20. I was running a knock off. I went on line and ordered a real ct20-A compressor housing. It was only $60 bucks. Had it a week later. Very easy swap. Didnt even need to pull the turbo. Gained 3 psi in the mid range and 2 psi on the top. The engine is much happier now.

Bimini for the HZJ73 showed up today from Portugal! Looks great. Hope the fit is right. Andre was a pleasure to work with and says it's the first in the US.

All packed in a carrying case.

Need the wet PNW spring to be less wet now. I'll document the install.

Got tires swapped onto re-powdercoated aluminum rims.
Balancing guy said 2 of them needed a ton of weights.
He checked the rims but they are round and true.
maybe tires or not symmetrical?

could you see what the difference about it was?

Question for the brain trust,

Taking apart a stuck VSV (13BT 24v) and swear I felt something hit my shirt - no idea what it was.

Is there supposed to be a small spring or what between these two pieces?

Turned the garage upside down, mag broom and all and I can't find a thing...

Had a whooshing / gurgling sound when taking off the main tank fuel cap...

It's been happening for a long time so another post on here prompted me to finally do something about it, especially as being a diesel mechanic and knowing that diesel fuel lift pumps are prematurely destroyed if having to pull against an even partial vacuum...

This is 400,000 km+ of accumulated bull-dust, sometimes in country laden with iron ore dust...

Bit of a clean up with some small brushes, brake cleaner and compresed air, now it looks like new again...

The other thing i discovered about these vehicles is the existance of a check valve in the top of (only) the main tank...

It seemed to be not checking and had a lot of resistance in both directions, so i've ordered a new one from japan for $25 aud, whereas in Australia these are more like $80...

For now however i'll run without it. I wondered if it's some type of stop-fuel-leakage-in-the-event-of-a-rollover.

Whichever mitigation solved the issue i don't know, but i've ticked this one off now as solved as it's no longer making noises.
