Having skipped work yesterday to help @sortmanfdxg install an OME lift on his 100, I thought I better get started prepping for next weekend when I'll take my BJ74 on our first camping trip together. After staring at the truck for a while, I realized there isn't much to do, so decided to focus on ensuring there'd be appropriately cold beer.

Ran some wiring to the back, tied down my fridge. Ready to camp.

Looks like you were two for two then yesterday because my truck drives exceptionally well (thank you for all the help) and I personally plan to fill that fridge up for you for the trip as "payment".

Awesome.

Anzo Borrego?

Yup!

Hard to get enough of that place, especially at this time of year.

Was there earlier this week in my 100 (link to a few pics), but this time will be going with a few others ( including @sortmanfdxg and @bushdoctor ). Those guys have been pouring money into their trucks recently, so we'll see how this simple old diesel JDM truck does in comparison!

E-Locker time in Jenny. Harnesses are mounted to the axle housings and I've got everything sorted but the indicator lights. Ferg had some small LED's he planned use but they are 12V, I've found some 24V flush mount lights that would work but I'm not in love with them. I've absolutely love to find a factory 7x instrument cluster that had the OE lockers, perhaps I'll find a way to integrate some lights in the factory dash? I still need to conquer that. I'm going with a full ECU setup, it's obviously more complex than the DPDT non-relay option but it's cleaner and integrated nice with the OE switch which I'll mount in a 7x switch housing pod that is already in the Cruiser.

In South Africa its quite easy to get them as we have many second hand and written off 70 series Cruisers. These were taken out of a brand new 79 singe cab that became a game viewer.

I pushed it out back and covered it with a tarp. Waiting for fenders and rear quarter panel to arrive from Japan in
April. So not much to do except doodle and design a soft top.

You can get a new soft top/gaskets and hardware new from Japan as well... If that helps at all.

Thanks for the information. My budget is only $500 over now, including the fenders and quarter panel. So I'll have to wait for that.
I might be able to keep the rear door enclosure and hardware from the donor BJ71 but I'm not sure yet. Would that rear piece be similar
or the same from 71 to 74 series, I wonder? I think after paint I'll take a year and enjoy it. I've got my 60 if I want to venture into ugly weather. Thx, though. J

More progress on the lockers

Kurt that is awesome! Not that I'm going to do it but I'm guessing the OEM gauge and display could also be made to work with my Harrop e lockers?

Sure, any manual locker. The lights have constant power from the instrument cluster, it takes just a ground to fire the lights. So, you could easily rig up a relay that connects a ground to the light while simultaneously providing 12/24V power to the Harrop, ARB or E-Locker. I'm using the OE Toyota ECU which kicks out a ground for me
