Did one of my favorite mods to date - before & after:

Engine_cover_removed.jpg

Timing Belt, Water Pump, Starter Contacts, Serpentine Belt, Heater Tees, And Valve Cover Gaskets. $$$...but it's running smooth and I think I'm in love with it again!

I mentioned to the service adviser that I had been thinking about selling. Got a call from him a couple hours later asking if I was serious. Felt kinda bad, but I had to burst his bubble

Just saw that you're from Fayetteville... I'm down the hill in Fort Smith! The guys here at the dealership a,ways ask me if I'm willing to part with my Landy yet :)

Today I finally had an opportunity to check out my AHC system. I've done a complete fluid flush a couple weeks ago but I really wanted to check on the over all health of the system. I've had a driver side lean that was really starting to irk me. After cranking on the TB's for about 30 mins, I finally got it all leveled out side to side. The moment of truth was upon me...... I hooked up my new toy (TechStream) and began exploring. What I found was bad, and somewhat good......

Initial readings were
Front pressure-7.8
Rear pressure-6.8
Accum pressure- 10.2

FR- 0.0
FL- 0.2
Rear- 0.1

Wow, the front TB really needed some attention but what I'm shocked to find is that on a 147k mile rig @ 12 years old, the rear is at 6.8. At least that's a win.

So after about 1.5 hrs of cranking, checking, cranking, checking.... I've left it at
Front pressure 7.1
Rear 6.8

Front heights had adjusted easily to 0.0 and the rear I left alone at .1

I had at one point, had the front dialed in at 6.9 but once I started fiddling with the height on the one side...the pressure went back up to 7.4. More fiddling with the TB's got me back down to 7.1 and I had to button it up for work. I'll revisit it later this coming week.

The best part is the ride is SILKY SMOOTH now. It's better than my wife's 14' highlander limited. Also, I had a slight vibe at around 71mph up to about 77-78..... It's non existent now.

Again, thanks to ALL on this site for the wealth of info. Especially @Paddo as he seems to be resident expert on the AHC here based on all the threads I read and he's posted.

And so it begins..

Replaced passenger side CV, replaced both front wheel bearings, greased spindle bearings (Slee tool rocks!),resurfaced front brake roters and installed new pads. She also got an oil change, transmission fluid flush, and all spiders and slip yokes greased.

Next up, new tensioner, idler, and heater hose tees.

Additional notes: The wheel bearings took care of strange harmonics I was experiencing between 45-55mph. Thanks to Cruiser Outfitters for the excellent (and affordable) kits that they sell.

Another plug for my replacement rebuilt CV from CVJ axles. A good affordable and quality option vs. the cheap Chinese parts store options.

i don't get it. What do you do?
Removed the engine cover - mine (like many) has lost the anti-vibration foam underneath it over the years so in cooler weather the cover often rattle at stoplights, etc. It's function is purely cosmetic, and now I never have to hear that stupid rattle again.

Cut and modified the WeatherTech rear mat. The dogs keep sliding it around so I bolted it under the tailgate cover trim.

Great idea! I was bothered by the flopping as well. Did this mod in 20 min. Much cleaner. Recommended.

Changed power steering fluid to mobil 1 synthetic atf and greased the spindle bushings on DS. Also found while greasing the spindle that someone used standard wheel bearing grease as well as moly. Plan to do a repack and clean it all up in a couple weekends.

Rebooted the PS CV joints. Followed the FAQ write-up by Summit Cruisers, but like agaisin I had to remove the lower arm as well on the install end of the job.

Set up ARB awning -- 2000 x 2500 -- Being that I had a half roof rack, I had to customize a bracket to make a third point for the awning to mount too. Originally, the roof rack was mounted using -- ARB Products 3713020 Flange Kit. I would have needed an extra base bracket but unfortunately ARB do not sell single pieces. I had to buy the whole kit again. I therefore will have 2 extra mounts -- Will only use two mounts, one on each side and mount a cross steel beam across them to have a place to mount spot lights and a solar panel. For the extra 2, am willing to sell them to anyone that could use them.

Programmed remote key -- I can now open and close the door remotely but the key can't start the car. Any takers on why that would be the case? @perrobravo
