When Korn didn't suck:

Need to rebuild the carb on your Dodge Dart leaning tower of power? Here's how not to do it: (hidden track on Korn's self-titled album) BIG TIME LANGUAGE ALERT!

Supposedly the producer found this recording on a tape in an abandoned house. I wonder if one of these two ended up in prison for killing the other? I like to think that Geri bludgeoned Michael to death in his sleep. Michael definitely had it coming.

"Feel the Pain" is really their only tune that I like, for some reason. But I really like it. Lots of chaos going on but not as disorganized as most of their stuff. Thanks, Skate Rat Dave!

So, was Dave a Bones Brigade man? A powell and peralta driver? G&S? or the variflex cheapskate?

I couldnt get into the skull stuff, so my favorite stick was a Santa Cruz R/S 10 that I bought with my own earned allowance money in 1983 or so. It was a two tone neon blue/chartruse spiral that would dang near make you dizzy. I did street, ditch, half pipe, and bike towed 1/4 pipe with that board. Still have it. It gets used mainly to move furniture now LOL

When the kids down the street took up skating, one bought a rail to grind on. I was walking the dog, said hi, and asked if i could try. they looked at me like "WTH old man, youll break a hip". in 3 passes I did a front side olly to 50/50 grind, a nose grind to rail slide, and did a nice frontside 360 boneless on the flat. they all looked at each other like i was a 3 headed turtle...."but youre jamies dad....i didnt know people your age could skate" LOLOL Keep in mind, i was 32 at the time....

I saw AC/DC on the FOTS tour. Rock on!

I had many skateboards in my heyday. SIMS Hardcore, Santa Cruz Bevel, Zorlac John Gibson, Vision Old Ghost. Always Tracker trucks. Always 97 or harder duration wheels. My favorite wheels were OJ2 Elites. I broke a lot of boards. I did mostly vert skating. My buddies and I built a big half pipe. People would come from all over the county to skate it. The Town of Wingate didn't like it. We went to several town council meetings, fighting to keep it. Ultimately it was taken down and moved to a different location. We all graduated and went our separate ways and the half pipe fell into disrepair. It was torn down a few years later...probably around 1989.

We had an 8 ft x 8ft quarter pipe two houses down from me, a 14ft x25 ft half pipe in our neighborhood, and a great BMX track within a couple miles of neighborhood roads. And countless temporary ramps, jumps, courses in the woods, etc. I was split between bikes and boards, did equal damage to my body on each ;)

IMO, there is no equal to the tone that comes from the six strings of Mr. Knopfler. Nothing mind boggling, technically, dat tone doe.

Thinking man's music for me today. EPIC drum solo from 2:20 - 5:32.

YYZ is the IATA identification code for the Pearson Toronto International Airport (Rush's hometown). YYZ is constantly transmitted via Morse Code from the airport to help planes identify their whereabouts. The intro to the song is YYZ in Morse Code over and over: -.---.----..-.---.----..-.---.----..-.---.----..-.---.----..-.---.----..-.---.----..

Hands down my favorite Dire Straights tune. Tunnel of Love

I was raised in a house full of music, we always had a piano or an organ. My mother could site read anything you put in front of her. She was studying with the Philadelphia Orchestra when she met my father just after WWII. She studied piano and bassoon. She took me to all kinds of concerts and Broadway shows, my favorite, the Mills Brothers, look it up :)

Anyway, she has never been a big fan of "rock & roll". Never understood why I spent so much money on tickets to go see every act that rolled through Philly or NY. One day I sat her down, had her close her eyes and played a version similar to this one of Tunnel of Love. She would play my Dire Straits LPs and tapes along with a few other artists after that. I guess I was about 20-21. Funny visiting Mom and her listening to my stuff. She was bummed when I finally bought myself a decent stereo and picked up my LPs and tapes.
